  1. I have a 2.5 N/A that smokes rather a lot, blue/grey. It clears a little once warm but not much. The engine starts very good, also when cold, needs just 10 seconds of heat. When I remove the oil filler it doesn't blow much. The engine also sounds ok, so I don't think it's worn. The former owner said the timing belt has been changed recently. If the timing is slightly out, could this cause these kind of problems? I don't think injectors can cause blue/light grey smoke?
  2. I also don't think this is too bad... I repair far worse ones each day...
  3. Hi, I'm looking for a good vector image of a Land Rover 110, so I can try out some striping and sign writing on it. Does anybody have a .eps or .ai file for me?? Thanks, Paul my email: Paul's email
  4. Thanks, I'll try that. Hope my nanocom arrives soon!
  5. I have the TD5 here now! I also have a brand new NNN ECU here. I'm just waiting for my Nanocom (Paddockspares is closed until januari ) I just plugged in my new ECU to see what happened, I didn't expect the car to start without programming the ECU. When I turn on the ignition I only here a lot of clicking noises from the ECU (or the relais near the ecu) and the check engine and hazard lights warning lights keep flashing. Is this normal behaviour when plugging in a non programmed ECU?
  6. Well I have bought the car for a good price (I hope). Didn't have time to collect it yet, I'm travelling between Holland and the UK this week. Today London, Tomorrow and Thursday around Liverpool. I've taken the ECU already and sent it to my td5 expert, he is going to try to repair the old one.... I'll keep you informed on the progress. I agree most of the times, still I wanted music on this one. But it can be turned off! I'm only a very small trader, since only one year. Started as a hobby, so didn't start it for the money or something (ofcourse nowadays have to make some money on it, it takes 100 hours a week and I have to eat.. ) My Land Rover hobby started just 4 years ago, so I'm learning every day. A lot on dutch forums, but I also read this one almost every day. Didn't post too much myself yet. But one day I'm an expert too, and may be able to post some usefull info.
  7. Because I'm used to buying and selling early one-ten's (see my website in Holland One-Ten Land Rovers) and these don't have fancy Ecu's and stuff, I'm also not used to buying damaged cars (other than rust damage ) I don't know what has happened to this car and how long and it what kind of water this has been, I hope to have enough time today to go view it again and ask them some more questions about it!
  8. Fresh water I think, I'm going back to them tomorrow to get more details.. I think the keys are available.
  9. Thanks, but I live in the Netherlands :-) That's the first thing I thought, but I don't know too much about these electronics, so I wasn't sure. I know a TD5 specialist here in Holland, unfortunately he's far away from me. Maybe I can ask him to program a NNN*** ECU without the alarm to test the engine, or better, maybe he could come to me to view the car... It is rather cheap though, and it's a very very nice CSW, and I do have a spare engine laying around here...(as a spare for my own disco)..
  10. it's not a private sale, I own a land rover business and I am buying from a damaged car sales company. Will it run on a random ECU to test if the motor is ok, without any programming? i.e. can I just take an ecu out of a discovery and try it?
  11. Yes, water in the engine was what I am affraid off. But if I'll buy the car I'll let him put on the invoice that there's no engine damage.
  12. Hi, I can buy a 1999 LR90 TD5, it has been under water. Only to the level of the seatbases. They have removed the ECU and opened it and it is broken. They say they have tried the car with a replacement ECU and it was running fine. What sort of problems cab I expect if I'll buy this car, will it just be this ECU (ofcourse I can't read the injectorcodes from the old ECU because it's broken) or will there be a lot of other problems like gearbox, clutch, other electrics?
  13. thanks all! I think I will drive a little longer with my current engine. I have the old non flashable ECU in my Disco. Maybe I'm gonna use the newer engine to upgrade one of my one-ten's someday..
  14. Hi, I drive a 2000 Disco TD5 with about 200000 miles on it. Still excellent though. I also have a spare td5 engine from a 2005 defender with only 6000 miles. I'm thinking of putting the newer engine in my disco and selling the old one while it is still ok. Is this a straight swop and is the only thing I need to do programming the new injector codes to my ecu?
  15. I've had my disco td5 for almost 4 years now, did 180000 miles in it, still on the same batteries it came with...
  16. O, and if you buy a new car they will charge 45,2 % tax (BPM) on it, and ofcourse the 'normal' 19 % VAT...
  17. I have tried this, but it did not help. The hinges are in good condition.
  18. Road Tax in Holland is depending of fuel type and weight of the car. A disco 2 TD5 (2100kg?) will cost about 2000 euro's a year so about 1400 pounds. Full comprehensive insurance is about 1500 euro's so about 2000 pounds. LPG pays another 10% extra roadtax, petrol is about 1/2 the roadtax of diesel. Average income in Holland is € 30000,- a year. Diesel 1,25 a litre. So driving a heavy diesel car is also in holland very expensive.
  19. Since I've travelled through Morocco for a month this summer, my D2's rear door wouldn't open anymore. Lever felt normal, you could hear the electric lock work fine. I thought there maybe a lot of dust or sand in the mechanism so I cleaned it out. A lot of sand came out. After a lot of hassle and rocking the door it would finally open. Cleaned it even better and everything was ok. Tried it several times during a week, still everything ok. But...one week later it wouldn't open again, tried everything I could imagine without any luck. You can't remove the lock mechanism without opening the door, because the bolts are between te door and the post. My only option was hammering the mechanism to 3489634 pieces and after about an hour I managed to open the door. Bought another lock from a breaker, tested it a lot of times and everything was working again. But now since about two weeks my door won't open again. I really have not a clue where to look now. Everything is ok, I've checked everything. All levers are functioning normal, you can hear them do their job in the lock, you can hear the electric locking and see the lever move when you press the button, but the door is still closed..... Who has an idea???
  20. I have Deflex bushes, I've had them for a year now and they are still ok... paddocks sell metalistic, that's oem...
  21. a king cab would also be nice for me, too tall for a truck cab :-(
  22. just leave the wiring away. A tdi starts fine without any heat even in coldest winters. I have 2 tdi's without wiring on them and have never had a problem.
  23. I've got mine from Paddocks, they are cheap and good. http://www.paddockspares.com/scp/OFF_ROAD/Wheel_Spacers.html
