  1. Thank chaps....not giving my mot mate the chance to moan...ill fix it.... Rich
  2. Hi all, Hoping for some advice - think I know what to do but better safe than sorry... My brake light came on today on my tdi300 basic non abs n reg... I stopped and checked reservoir which was well down...checked under car and the culprit was drivers side rear....pipe had been damaged... On closer inspection, the anti roll bar had collapsed this side and whacked the pipe...looks like a ball joint has failed... Tommorow, I'm gonna repair the pipe and ezibleed the system back up...but until I get another ball joint for the roll bar, can I take it off and use the car for a few days?... I might not need to if I can locate the part but tommorow it'll be wishful thinking.... Cheers Rich
  3. Lol...what size tyres are they?
  4. notorious for going here....concertina chassis... that could be fixed....would love a project like that....a nice lookin disco too I must say.... main thing is yer missus got out ok... rich
  5. Looking good... I have a question for any other guys that might have used box section as im leaning towards wanting to use this... How do you cope with the clearance above the chassis?...do you have to mod the box - on the genuine part you can see it is shaped to allow for the chassis below it?.. Is there any milage in strengthening the body mounts on the cross member whilst off the car if using the genuine part?....they look flimsy to me TBH... Rich
  6. I had the console out for overhaul of the H\L selector mechanism...i didnt "pop rivet" back in - just used self tappers Rich
  7. Moaning about my tdi only doing 27 with knoblys....think ill stay quiet....lol That's awful mpg.....don't remember rover v8s been that bad...what was book spec for these things when new?
  8. Mine is the tensioner bearing...I could get it to stop for a bit with spray oil.... It's common and there are new bearings available on ebay starting at a couple of quid upwards...I paid a bit more and got a decent quality one.... It's not fitted after 3 months....I like listening to it more than the carp on the radio...
  9. That's a good clip...I'd heard of it but its good to watch... Thanks for that.. Rich
  10. And don't they go when they go! I was buying a rear door and the body had been stripped to a shell on wheels...the roof had been chopped off and just a pickup type carpet-less skeleton was left...it was a 1997 4door... It had gone in the same places as mine inner wings, sills, except I have saved mine.. It's invaluable experience if you can get to see the shell stripped down...my attention will be switching to a few areas on mine in the coming months like the floor where the rear seats bolt to...the boot floor on this one amazingly was original and not rusted! Work that out....
  11. Another one for the forum success storys - section....
  12. Box it is then for me to.... Must admit, the sills are loads better made from this... Would you say this is as difficult as sills?
  13. I gotta do what you are doing in a couple of months...although boot floor I'm gonna make from thicker sheet and reinforce, the x member ill prob use a craddocks narrower repair section and chop it away from the ends...
  14. Hands up...mines the same...thanks for write up.. Rich
  15. The good thing is....he's got 5 left ....god knows what he's charging for an r380...a couple of grand?
  16. I thought there was also vacuum hoses that had to be blanked off...be careful about doing your homework if you remove the egr fully.... Rich
  17. Oh and look for one you can put a winch on....its starting argh...don't listen...lol
  18. The headlights ones on mime were rotten but if these are gone..so will the areas close like wheel arches...just make em yourself...cut one out...clone it in your shed twice...job done. Rich
  19. mine is very similar sounding....33mpg then dropped to 25...only thing ive done is changed tyres.. from standard tyres to.....INSA TURBOS...which is my suspicion where the mpg has gone.. Rich
  20. Yep plugs on back of headlights...I replaced mine with a proper 3pin block for headlights from Halfords ... made a much neater connection using the proper thing...
  21. Easy outs are no good .. only thing is can you weld a stud on...the heat shud crack it...or centre punch and drill...gonna be a bitch I'm afraid..
