  1. Flick it over? If you are talking about a conversion, what would be the point if they accept RHD? I have had RHD in Germany for the past 9 years. Not a problem as I rarely overtake in my Defender. It was a little bit more complicated in the faster cars that I've had though!
  2. Thanks cipx2 for this information. I will send you a PM later. Cheers, Paul

  4. I need the following for my NATO hitch. 2 x bits of good quality steel plate approx 190x110mm and at least 8mm thick (spreader plates) 4 x M12 high tensile bolts, 8.8 grade or higher, nuts and washers to match Anyone know where would be a good place to order them from? Cheers, Paul
  5. Fantastic info, thanks. It has been a real struggle to get good accurate local information, so finding you is a big plus! PM me if you would prefer, but where in RO are you located? Where do you buy parts for for your LR? Do you work on your vehicle yourself or do you use someone else? Do you know of any LR specialists that are not dealerships in RO? Are there any good RO LR groups? I had a look at the websites you enclosed in the above post. What Euro number category would my LR be? It is a 1994 Defender county station wagon 110, with a 200TDI engine. Thanks again for all your help! Cheers, Paul
  6. Thanks cipx2 Are you in RO? Do you drive a LR there? Good information, thanks. I take it these rules have changed with RO joining the EU. My LR is registered in Germany at the moment, so light conversion already completed. Not heard about the mirror before, but makes sense, although I don't tend to do much in the way of overtaking. I can only imagine a 6-7000 euro importation tax is to protect Dacia sales. Contact with your friend at DVLA equivalent would be very useful when I arrive in RO April. Cheers, Paul
  7. Surprisingly comfortable. However, on testing a few surprised neighbours looking on!
  8. Thanks for the info. I have sent you a PM
  9. Thanks for the information, and well explained for the non-initiated like me. Cheers, Paul Now you've got me wondering whether I am going overboard with a more expensive twin axle when the GD84G can carry 1200kg. Got to have a serious think about this because costs are mounting and I've still got to get my winch and bumper sorted too. Cheers, Paul
  10. I wonder why you can't get LR pattern wheels on the double axle? I sent off 4 e-mails yesterday asking for quotes on the GD85 model, 3 UK companies and 1 German. Only had one reply, and guess which of the 4? Yes, with their usual and prompt efficiency it was the German company. They have even offered free delivery which is good as the factory is a long long way from here. I must admit I wouldn't mind pulling one first to check height compatibility with my 110. I was also thinking about the possibility of the frame and plastic cover option rather than the metal canopy which is a lot more expensive. Much less secure but at least everything will remain dry.
  11. The difference is you are obviously good with the spanners, but I'm not! I do like the idea of something lockable though. I believe these canopies can also be bought as an extra.
  12. I will check it out before I buy. However, several forum members appear to have Ifor's and cant all have standard height suspension. Cheers, Paul
  13. Thanks, it does look pretty sturdy with a bracing bracket too. But as you say it is not ideal having the weight shunting and pulling at the lower end. Surely having larger tyres helps address the height issue to a certain extent?
  14. I do have an adjustable hitch, but even on the lowest level looks too high for some trailers. Thanks for the info. I will obviously try before I buy. Cheers, Paul
  15. I will give them a call in the week. They are a long way south, but could combine with a weekend in Bavaria. I'm not in the army but work with them. Cheers, Paul
  16. Thanks JJ, Just had a look at their website (unsinn) and yes they do look good. I like the look of this one http://www.der-anhaengerpark.de/produkt_details_db.html?pk=1 Can you see a price list anywhere on the website? Do you live in Germany? Cheers, Paul
  17. So which of the Ifor's do you think would suit my needs. I take it they come at differing heights (tyre sizes) depending on the vehicle towing?
  18. Very nice! Good as keeps everything dry and locked away.
  19. A sankey would be good on the tours for kit and camping equipment, but for my long haul trips and building materials I will need something bigger. Did you buy your new or used? Cheers, Paul
  20. Had a look at the Brian James website too. Masses of info and similar price range to the Ifor. Are these on leaf springs? The other issue is height of trailer to hitch to the back of my raised suspension. I suppose if I measure the height of ball from ground and give the company these specs they will advise on best trailer with double axle? Where would you buy an ex-hire trailer - auctions? Cheers, Paul
  21. I'll chance my arm! How old is Dave? Happy New Year by the way!
  22. nas? Is that your LR. If so £205 for both vehicle and trailer fully comp? I use the wrong insurance company!
