  1. Welcome. Also looking forward to some photos. What on earth are you doing on the internet when you have fishing and a sea like that??!! I have a 200Tdi (1994) Fantastic engine! The 300Tdi was the next one along. More refined and quieter. Some deem it to be the best low tech engine Land Rover ever made. Cheers, Paul
  2. Thanks for all the advice. This is why it always becomes a difficult choice. Some swear by the original Polybush blues, then others say they are rubbish. I must admit the OME's are looking a more attractive option. Ralph where did you buy your bushes from? Cheers, Paul.
  3. Thanks Ralph, No winch so I will take into consideration the setup you suggest. What make of springs and shocks did you go for? Cheers, Paul
  4. Thanks Ralph, Now that is in simple terms that even I can understand. That makes sense and thanks for your advice. Cheers, Paul
  5. Well a mixture of both really. That is why I am looking for a good all rounder for the second set. I will use the Goodyear Wranglers for the 1552 mile trip back to the UK for an MOT each year! Some crazy Romanian rule prevents me from re-registering my LR in Romania because of its age and not meeting E2 standard or something like that. Cheers, Paul
  6. Would you say the tread pattern on the 235 BFG Goodrich is better than the 7.50. Thank you Mark for your comments too. I have an offer for some Michelins 7.50 but that will probably be too close to what I already have 7.50 Goodyear Wranglers. So maybe the 235 A/T BFG's would be a better second set? Cheers, Paul
  7. Hi, I will changing the suspension set up on my 110 CSW for the tougher road conditions and extra carriage of weight in Transylvania. Do you think the following is a good choice? Should I consider anything else. The requirements for this setup are as follows 1. Regular pot holes on tarmac roads 2. Bumpy dirt tracks 3. Off roading 4. Carrying a maximum of 5 people, all their kit and camping equipment Proposed set up 1. Old man emu springs. Front springs 751, Rear springs 755 2. Old man emu dampers. Front shocks n115, Rear shocks n44 3. Polybush comfort (blue) with associated bolts. Thanks in advance. Paul
  8. Thanks Les. So would the difference be slightly more grip with the 235? Cheers, Paul
  9. Hi, For my second set of tyres I have been looking at the sizes. Can anyone explain in simple terms what is the main differences are between 235/85R16/E and 7.50R16/D. Why would you choose one over the other because as far as I can see there is not a lot of difference in dimensions? Thanks in advance. Cheers, Paul.
  10. I thought they were there to get the latch on and off, not to maneuver backward and forward. Please excuse me for my ignorance.
  11. Hi, I have been having loads of trouble shutting the passenger door on my Defender 110. I have changed the seals and even taken the door off and refitted it. Rejo sent me this article and after 1 minute the problem was solved. I never thought to look at the latch as assumed it would be static. Cheers, Paul. http://www.difflock.com/magazine/Modificat...der_doors.shtml
  12. Thanks guys, The look of the tyres do not bother me so much but you are right about possible abuse and that possibly being the cause of the white lines. I have heard a lot of good reports about BFG's, so may go for those. Cheers, Paul
  13. Hi, Can anyone advise me on these tyres, Wildcats? Are they any good? If they are does the price sound OK. A mate of mine says that they may be too big for my 110 CSW? He also says that Michelins are the best in the world. He could never be accused of sweeping statements! Especially when he has 4 for sale. Cheers, Paul http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LAND-ROVER-90-110-DE...1QQcmdZViewItem
  14. Thanks everyone, very useful information. Cheers, Paul
  15. Thanks for that Ralph. Good to hear. Thanks for pointing out the mistake, I will edit it now before I cause anymore confusion. Cheers, Paul.
  16. Hi, My 110 runs on Disco wheels. I have heard that the rims can fail under heavy loads. Has anybody heard of these stories, or is it a myth? Cheers, Paul
  17. Thanks to whoever you are that has added me to your links. Link popularity has nearly doubled in a week! Cheers, Paul
  18. Most of the SEO sorted now. I think my main problem is the lack of reciprocal links. If anybody out there wants to exchange links please let me know. Cheers, Paul.
  19. Thanks for the offer Rob. Regarding the e-brochure, just click on the image of the brochure on the following link. You can then view in pdf. It does need updating, so my web site gives most info. If you need any help with your trip, just ask. http://www.transylvania4x4tours.com/html/e-brochure.html Cheers, Paul.
  20. Thanks Rob. Is MM only for UK. Do they have anything for the East of Europe? Cheers, Paul.
  21. Still haven't got mine sorted out. However, this is a great thread. I getting some idea with all the components involved. Just a few questions if anyone has a minute. 1. What is MM? 2. GPS receiver -> Bluetooth -> Laptop or cable as described above. Where does the GPS mouse come into this? 3. Software is I take it the MM or something like Oz Explorer? Do you then load one map at a time. For example if your in a forest are you positioned on the screen with a dot or something. What happens when you drive off the page? If you are in a big forest and the screen is green can you zoom out to get your bearings? 4. Does this work alongside paper maps as a reference. 5. When Les Hensen does one of his descriptive photo instruction guides to a job all seems to make sense. Anyone fancy having a go for setup of this system for the less initiated like me? I know if I saw one in action it would probably all fall into place but I don't know of anyone over here, so a forum demo would be the next best thing. Cheers, Paul.
