  1. Luke you should find a generic electric fuel pump for a carbed truck in most auto supply places like NAPA or Auto Zone for around $60. John
  2. I used a fixed window from an old Series hard top and made a cutting template from the old window hole. This was easy enough but for the fact that the new rubbers were metric dimension and slighly larger making the fitting tough. Had I realised the situation I would have made the allowance when marking the hole. John
  3. If all else fails get it tow started. I have a tractor I need to do this too when the fuel system has been opened. It then starts OK once run for a while. John
  4. Those values are pretty current for Canada too. So much depends on condition. A fully restored unit in as new condition might be worth $20,000 to the right buyer and a pile of parts with rust frame might be $200. John
  5. There are other LR owners in the Grand Prairie area but none seem to visit here. John
  6. Dunno about you having problems with the link Les but it has worked for me several times when I used it as a short cut to get here. I'll admit to being an idiot but I didn't bugger up your link. John
  7. It there is an alternator fitted you can be sure that it is -ground or has already been converted. A Total failure to engage the starter may very well be the starter switch.but don't forget to check the engine ground I expect by now you have notice that the key doesn't engage the starter, there's a push button for this down under the dash...very modern this feature, all the expensive 2006 cars now have a starter button. John
  8. Nah its that they have to get around too and prefer to fly. But while we are on the question how much fuel do the Greenpeace ships burn while they are off saveing whales and seals and unicorns and stuff? John
  9. I suspect the Ftlb figure is converted from another unit of measurement, Newton/meters or gerbil/antelopes or somesuch. John
  10. A nasty bit of web page building but some neat stuff if you can find the links John
  11. I have bought several items on Ebay and had only one complaint. This was absorbitantly high shipping on a pair of head lamps but since I only paid $.99 for them the overall cost was well below retail. I have bought several Land Rover Watches from a bloke in Hong Kong and been very well pleased. John
  12. Just when I thought the bus wasn't coming and went back in the house!! John
  13. A series SWB with two timber beams trimmed down to drive up in the rear chassis legs after the back end rotted off.with a piece of 6x2 for a rear crossmember. The bloke was quite proud of his innovation and showed it off to anyone who would look! John
  14. Some times living alone has its advantages. Yes I do spent too much time on the computer when there's other stuff needs doing. John
  15. Hmmm, That sort of does away with one of the 8274 's best features and that is lack of cross rods to hang up on the cable if it gets bunched up or tangled.. I've seen a few winches of other models well bu**ered with busted cases when the cable jammed under a cross rod. John
  16. It was worth a try but we don't have very many Disco owners on here. John
  17. Does your phone service provider allow you to block incoming numbers? That would prevent the bogus charges. John
  18. Where would you go to get a new mass air flow sensor for a north american spec Disco 1 and how much would you expect to pay for it? John
  19. Anyone know the best place to get a new one ? John
  20. From personal experience both of the above scenarios are correct so a judgement has to be made. In the conditions you are likely to be driving will a lack of a spinning wheel cause a torque over load on the wheel with grip or will a spinning wheel suddenly grab and expose the 1/2 shaft to a high shock load?. I have noticed that the torque over load is more likely to happen but hard to detect by the driver. If the open diff allows a wheel to spin the driver can back off to reduce the shock. In sumary a locker is likely to be harder on 1/2 shafts and weak diffs. John
  21. I have found in the past that in really cold weather using the large blower alone will cool the matrix too quickly hence the mod to the heater box and second core. I found it well worth the effort. John
  22. OH MY GOD......you mean..... but..... John
