  1. I used Terrafirma after recommendations and so far its been great but saying that I have not had it on the road long. Pro-Comp have a rust problem or so I have been told. For a good budget kit I would use Terrafirma but as said you get what you pay for.
  2. May have one if ye want to pay for postage and a small donation to the forum.
  3. The only thing I can think of is running some weld along the sided of the key way, use a grinder and dremel to clean up the key way. Would be a right pain of a job but if you can get a good edge to the key way I would think it would last but key would need to be tight or it will just wear and come out again.

    Towing

To be honest I would not trust most if them, Ralf's one looks the most robust one I have seen but could not justify that price. I have seen quite a lot of home made efforts that look stronger than the shop jobs.

    Towing

Nice find, I take that its up to date. - I have been towed by a pole and hated it, much prefaired a rope......Not that I get towed a lot -
  6. A friend of mine said that is going to become illegal to tow using a strap or rope and if I was going to do so I would need to buy a Tow Pole. Is this true and if so what tow pole would you recommend – sprung or un-sprung. Weight rating ------- any advice welcome.
  7. If its new send it back and have it replaced as they should be free to turn, Dont think they will come apart as they are swaged on. The only thing I can think of is to sit it in a tub of engine oil over night and see if that helps, or stick a battery drill on the shaft and see if it free's off.
  8. Great result but have never heard of that before - will watch with interest to see if anyone else has.
  9. I would go with Wizard on this one, had the same fault on an old Disco - run a new earth and all was fine.
  10. I would use a Stanley knife blade and go over the window with that first.
  11. This happened to one of my ones last winter, frost caused it I think. I was able to destroy another one and just super glued the bit back on.
  12. Ordered the Bearmach one for LRDirect so may see it turn up in a week or two. Thank you for your help CwazyWabbit.
  13. Thank you for that, will order one but I will have to put the whole thing back together again if the seal turns up and then wait for the new gear, who if anyone does next day delivery.
  14. That would be just my luck. I will have to look into that. I did think of making a large washer for the cam shaft pulley but would be better with the correct pulley.
  15. No its just a parallel with no edge.......
  16. Still waiting on oil seal but I did remove the old one today and it was ripped, When I took the timing cover off I noticed that my new belt is running against the timing cover, I know it was all the way on the pulley when fitted and my tensioner's are new. Is there anything I need to check before I fit the new seal (when it arrives) all pulleys feel OK. When I did it the first time I do notice that the original belt had been doing the same thing.
  17. I must have posted at the same time as you, Nice job there and it looks strong - will have to see what I have laying about here - thanks for the picture. Have pillar drill and welder so just need to see if I have some steel.
  18. I would not care what it looked like as long as it worked, an old pulley would be good to butcher - but then I would need a lathe.
  19. Thanks for all the replies - still waiting on the seal to arrive, The tool is a bit more complicated than I thought and don't think I will be buying one at the price as I hope not to be using it that often.
  20. Sadly no - I did order one but it was never delivered as they classed anything North of Aberdeen as Scottish Highlands as they would not deliver there.

  22. Thanks for all the help, just about what I was doing, high gear - brake on and chocked the front wheels. Any sizes of the tool would help as I could knock one up, the amount of time I have spent in the engine bay in the last month is unbelievable and may be at it again in the morning if my new crank shaft seal turns up. Hope after that I will be clear for a good while but the tool would still be handy. When ye need one ye need one.
  23. Hi how do you stop the engine from turning while you tighten the crank shaft bolt. I have done this several times and its always a struggle, is there an easy way to do this.
  24. I would change your lift pump, the injection pump sounds like it is struggling to pull and push fuel through.
  25. Dont know but it did not sound bad - just goes to show what these engines will put up with.
