  1. Can someone point me in the right direction, my 90 was fully serviced a year ago before i bought it cam belt changed new filters etc etc. since then i have done best part of 1200 miles, so aside from checking essentials like brakes lights etc do i need a full service or just change the engine oil? thanks
  2. TBH not convinced, have '10 saab convertible, '91 90 a '04 citroen C2 plus my company C5 est but mini fleet was a little saving for just self and wife but add a b*****y seventeen year old into the mix and oh what joy we have. basically 420 for saab, 200 for truck and 1500 for C2. child only funnily on C2. Fleet deal was 9000 don't you just love children..........
  3. Retro behave you remember you've got to let them settle in so you don't scare them off.
  4. Thanks for the education, even more impressive than when i did HIPping in my early career. Very keen now to have a toy, just need to find a good reason .........................
  5. okay you have my interest but also my stupid questions: if i make a solid does it print off hundreds of slices that i glue together like an old geography topographical model made from frosties packets? if so waht glue and how do i align them? or is it really clever and makes them from a solid lump? thanks
  6. nigel look at a real booth and you will see a very simple cone vortex type unit. suction at one side on top comes in thru a baffle creating a vortex. inlet adjacent but pointing away so inlet stream runs round top of cone but heavy stuff drops down to be collected in base. will see if i can find some old piccies tony
  7. The extra weight means you'll be able to close the doors when you fit new door seals.
  8. Be sitting down, i looked in jan and for a full respray reckon on £2,000 - 2,500 from fully certified insurance type repair shop, If you can live with the interior bits not done, a blow over if you must, then reckon on at least a grand from a traditional body shop
  9. Spearos thanks that is exactly what i want to do esp now i know which primers tony
  10. Green flag better.....you must enjoy looking at scenery my only two experiences both bad very long wait then trailer driver came out and took me to a garage where we abandoned the car cos it was closed. In the absence of an AA card why not just have a sankey with in built drawers then you should just about cover any of those little niggles that occasionally beset Defenders, like prop shaft shear, gearbox not selecting, lights failing, wipers not, rear spring snapping, brakes binding etc.
  11. Whilst everyone is on my next project couple of questions my paint has the odd bubbly area, my plan is to rub down with good old wet and dry then etch prime. then couple of cans of spray paint Questions which etch prime would anyone recommend and do i need to then apply normal primer or just straight on with the gloss? cheers
  12. i would go along with size of tyres, mine still has original door and no problems at all after 20 years but i do have cute lickle Avon 205/80 x 16's still. Not the originals though.
  13. dunno those doors look like mine at about 50mph
  14. Nige Get to a bloody Doctor, You know what lovelies are in flux and welding slag etc. Get a dose of antibiotics and avoid it going a multitude of colours and looking more like the alien emerging, without Sigourney Weaver. tony
  15. Try Arbil in Stourbridge, excellent company really knowledgable and I think they are main importers of warn
  16. Nick cheers also sorts out why i have a switch which i thought was double fog light switch, will play tonight in the dark see if makes any difference to dash tony
  17. question for all the experts, i have a 1991 90 and my central light is only switched on by the doors or would be if the door switches weren't welded into the door jalm . Like the idea of a strip of leds instead and thought about using existing supply in headlining and putting switched unit up there. So question which is the perm feed and which is the switched wire, then can i take the perm feed to one input and the earth the other side? sorry probably dead simple but my training is in metallurgy not electrics thanks to all
  18. All the sites i looked at implied that you take off seatbelt mount slide in panel and job's a good 'un. i think if you have a headlining it may work but not in mine. I cut the seat belt hole about 5mm too far forward so the panel is rammed up against the rear. then put in two self tappers on top rail and one at the bottom of central spine. That way i kept the horizontal beam (tub top?) untouched, partly cos i like the band of blue and also it was looking too complicated to sort out the levels between top rail, vertical spars and the 'tub beam' . I did run for a while with it held in place but it rattled constantly spoiling my normal near silent truck, a couple of self tappers and no problem since.
  19. dug out some piccies of my interior, one sheet of ply cut £15, 4m of cheap cord carpet from some carpet warehouse £16, one roll loft insulation from wickes £9, two aerosols of carpet glue £8 some heavy smooth rubber underlay had lying around and then a couple of hours measuring cutting and fiddling. Just be warned that glue bonds instantly you get maybe thirty seconds before it really grabs.
  20. You may find someone on fleabay doing them for show only, nearly bought some with LR logo in background till saw warning. If your truck looks suitably original you may get away with show versions without the logo etc. The number of plates i see with misshapen numbers irregular spacings etc i dont see our boys in blue treat this as a major concern just yet
  21. try framptons they do loads of classic plates try http://pl8s.co.uk/index.php sorry can't do that new fangled link thing
  22. perhaps someone can sort me out when the last owner welded in a new door pillar they welded the courtesy light switch into a blob then plated the hole.. my current interior light is US and i have a couple of stick on battery led lights instead now looking to get permanent lights again so can i take live cable and earth from existing unit to new lights? and if so which is the permanent earth thanks
