  1. Lincolnshire interpretation of 302 Boss Mustang I guess, guess next time it'll get the hood scoop and stripes down the roof
  2. or try this one non metallics: http://www.stephen.hull.btinternet.co.uk/nonmetallic.html metallics: http://www.stephen.hull.btinternet.co.uk/metallic.html
  3. In my case the top part of my footwell, where it sticks out from the bulkhead, had rotted and water ran in down the bulkhead.
  4. one's i saw were 60 plates and if the glass was anything to go by were brand new unless WY police now moved on from polishing their helmets to vehicle valets.
  5. got passed by two defenders very similar to below on M62 yesterday except in dark blue with west yorks police crest stickers on doors no other markings, plus rear had windows in whichmust be an inch thick, so dunno which prisoners we preparing for transport. Question has any one any idea what that roof rack thing is? http://www.businesscar.co.uk/story_attachment.asp?storycode=3203&seq=2&type=P&c=1
  6. Boris would end up paying for every deployment of snatch land rovers by the met for every demo in the city.
  7. i find the radio is nicely dried by in built air con unit directly behind radio mount, just need to close the flaps when peeing down
  8. with the monster on this. tried a fleabag LR unit for 60 notes, was okay but quality of sound poor and then it started to fall apart, got a jvc unit for about same though is new with 2 yr warranty and has aux input for i pod and Pure DAB radio adaptor. i reckon lots of people jump like me cos LR charge 300 plus so it must be good, no they just charging a lot of money.
  9. if you want to get dash off grab the instructions from the LR radio fitting kit, lots of piccies and straightforward. If you can't find one pm me and i'll do a dig and scan it for you
  10. Oh yes there is a god, my insurance renewal with CIS went from £221 to £452, looked on Gogetalife and confirmed £380 plus £75 for full AA cover. But there above the coop are Flux direct at £151 and my new bestest mates SureTerm at £118. Interestingly it is on their classic policy so 1991 is now classic, don't care as grabbed it before they realised and paid the lot three weeks early. for info thats 5000 miles per year, fully comp, self and wife (48 years) one years no claims and value £3500. Tony
  11. Paul just a word of warning when you get locking nuts on just check before you get in you still have the full set. I had a corrado back in the 80's and set off with one locking nut on each wheel no others the thick b***stids didn't work it out till all four were nutless aside from locking. Tony
  12. what the engine is is part of fords duratorq family which is a common rail unit which has a lot of very clever control systems on it. main features lots of low end torque low vibration and low emission. the units can be tuned via lots of clever elctronics so the transit 140bhp unit responds completely differently to the same unit in the mondeo which is less torque but freeer revving. if it's good enough for ford mondeo, ford transit, mazda 6, volvo V70 and i think one of the jag X-types gets it i guess the guys at lr felt they should get one plus ford will have told them. the model i drove last week was superb so despite the old addage sometimes there is a substitute for cubic inches.i cant see the BHP figure dropping they will just tune it after all the mondeo has 200bhp version as well
  13. Always find Paddocks to be great but I do go to the shop which does mean i can see the bits before i buy. Also find the staff are in general land rover mad so will give advice as well never had a problem with a Britpart myself in fact washer pump is better than original being almost silent.
  14. go with the hood scoop and then you can get four extra gauges along it's trailing edge to give oil pressure, oil temp, water temp and boost pressure
  15. Nige is spot on, TIG only as it's a controlled weld so good heat spread, essential you get spec of alloy then select rod, if you struggle try metrode who are superb and they will sort you. As previous post usual quality rules about undercut apply.
  16. my 200tdi also hovers about 30, our works transits all do about 40 and they have shape of a brick so surely puma should be the same
  17. yup handbrake still same place a lot of it still recognisable but no vents in front. Mine is a toy to be honest used when it snows and taking dogs out plus tip trips etc but is a blast of fresh air every time i get in it but as a daily driver no way. For that reason i had dismissed defender as a company car, that and the emissions for tax, and find navarra animal etc shockingly bad. But now with low tax and a good drive it's on the list. Just need to learn to avoid rising to the is that the transit rebody job
  18. and do 45k miles a year, now that is devotion
  19. trading standards do them. It's a nice little earner on every 20t load. just you didn't have 15t of truck and misc scrap so became pretty obvious. used to be quite common in the eighties but then stopped as trading standards nailed them that's why at british steel we used to get cubes of concrete in the scrap to compensate for thieving gits
  20. Thought as i'd had a letter from LR, asking me to test drive one of their super new toys and they'd enter me into a competition to spend a week in finland playing in the snow, plus the reclassification as commercial so as a company car little tax, would have a play in new defender. What a revelation, quiet engine, 6 gears, aircon, heated seats, smooth ride and low tax. Really buggered with my head as i expected shiny version of mine nothing more but it really is fantastic now to persuade accountant that i need one. ahhhhhh
  21. nigel i am same age but as mine's a toy no no claims allowed, ended up with CIS £200 fcomp, mine is std tho
  22. I have to say I only really get on with LR4x4 i guess cos i'm a bit nerdy so want lots of technical stuff even though i'll never go there, though pete attryde has me totally engrossed. i dip into other forums but never been that impressed. So without any prompting can Nige (injuries permitting) sort me out a S/O to fill in cos i'm sure my cheque is about done it's course and i can't cope with another begging bowl passing round.
  23. you mean 90's with that special bronze paint job, chequer plate with studs, leather seats with random belts attached and a curious lean as they drive along.
  24. Thank you all very much esp for check list Tony
