  1. I want to install a battery isolator switch on to the defender, do you connect it to the positive or negative lead?
  2. My 110 has 265/75/16 fitted and my sankey wide track has 750/16 on it, with the hitch on a adjustable drop plate at the top setting,(which is just below the crossmember) my sankey sits with the rear end up slightly, doesnt seem to affect handling.
  3. My friends Landrover was Stolen from Meopham in kent last night. It is a green 130 pickup, sign written on side, Small photo on his website, www.cobhamtreesurgery.co.uk We post more details when i get them.
  4. Just tried the LEZ number plate checker today, and it now says that i am NOT affected by the LEZ. Maybe this is because mine is a factory fitted CSW Vehicle: M80* *** Date Status 18 Jun 2011 to 02 Jan 2012 Not Subject to LEZ According to our records this vehicle is not subject to the Low Emission Zone and is not required to meet the Low Emission Zone standards this time. 03 Jan 2012 to onwards Not Subject to LEZ According to our records this vehicle is not subject to the Low Emission Zone and is not required to meet the Low Emission Zone standards this time. Hopefully this will stay like this and not change, This is the first time since the number platechecker website was launched that it states that i am Compliant (ie i can drive into london with no fine) )))
  5. This is the contact number i had 08705 000500, maybe someone else can ring to double check that is what they are saying.
  6. Just had a phone call from Landrover Customer services, they say that all pre 1998 Defenders regardless of wheather they are SW or hardtops, factory fitted or not are will be subject to LEZ in 2012, Apparrently DVLA has told landrover that it has reclassified all pre1998 as being Light 4x4 utilty regardless of how it came out of the factory. NOT HAPPY
  7. Disconnect rear prop, engage diff lock try to drive on front prop to move defender round yard, it tries to move but wont, as though there is a brick under wheel, Tap handbrake housing with fist, vehicle will move round yard, can anyone explain?
  8. Discs were sh*tpart but i thought as they have no moving parts that would be ok. Not sure of seals although they didnt seem very tight when putting them in, Dont think they were the unmentionable but could of been seeing what has happened
  9. Back in jan 2011 , i replaced rear discs, oil seals, brake pads on my 110 1994 , now the offside has decided to dump axle oil all over the offside break disc, would i persume that the oil seal has gone already, or would it be worse.
  10. I tend to use waxoyl anywhere i can get it, inside chassis, outside chassis, bulkhead etc
  11. I tend to put copperslip on every thread when putting the 110 back together, even wheel nuts.
  12. In Dec 2010 Adrian Flux told me they could no longer insure my 12 seater CSW, i got a quote of £350 off co-op, at beginning of jan 2011 flux phoned me asking if i had found insurance, as they had found a insurer that would cover the 110 CSW, and they could do the price at £250.00, as it was still within the 14 cooling off period i went back to flux, I am covered on fully comp with business insurance for £250 which i am more than happy with.
  13. I have one that uses the existing bolts for the towbar, the base fits here, and the bike support will slide into the base, Will try and put photo up for you, This setup still enables you to use the towbar. I bought mine about 10years ago from Halfrauds. This link below is very similar to my rack, I have used it requarly with excellent results. http://www.roofrackshop.co.uk/bike/thule-9705-bolt-on-bike-carrier.htm
  14. My 1994 defender CSW had 12 seats in it when i bought it, it now has five seats but there is no mention of the number of seats on the log book, it is listed as non complaint which is a pain as i live on the edge of LEZ. Log book states light 4x4 utility, hope to get this changed to estate.
  15. Ok have worked out i have been sent 90 rear discs as the box ref is DA4601 and 110 rear disc ref is DA4600
  16. Have measured new against old disc, there is a difference on the offset of the disc, the new disc is approx 4/5mm narrower, this it seems is causing the problem, So all i need to do is get an exchange for the correct ones,
  17. Pistons are pushed right back in to place, it seems like the disc is not on far enough but wheel bearing housing is sitting in correct place, i cannot get the caliper to get into position to bolt it on. These are the discs i bought off fleabay item no.250634262603
  18. My 110 defender had solid rear discs which i have replaced for drilled & grooved, now the calipers wont fit, Why?
  19. Got myself a Skytag tracker, but where would be the best place to locate it on a defender. Instuctions say somewhere there is no moisture & for obvious reasons out of site.
  20. I have been asked by Kent Museums for volunteers to help with there project, if you are intrested in helping them please contact them on the details provided, in return if you are in a 4x4 club of ant type they will advertise your club for you. Cheers Bernie KENTISH DELIGHTS Showcasing Kent Museums Sept – Feb 2010/11 Kentish Delights is a project funded by Renaissance South East to promote the collections of the museums of Kent. This innovative and exciting new project is designed to encourage new visitors to museums in their region by showcasing museum objects in venues that are in the everyday public sphere. The resulting modular exhibition and supporting exhibition trailer will display objects from 25 Kent museums in venues such as supermarkets, football clubs, shopping centres and cinemas, attracting large numbers of viewers. Our target for the project is 24,000 visitors. We are currently looking for volunteers in Kent keen to tow the exhibition trailer and to help support the project. The exhibition will be developed through partnerships in the local communities across Kent. We are currently working with groups as diverse as the Women’s Institute, the Romany community, the Royal Engineers Cadets and the Kurdish Community who are all participating in outreach projects. The exhibition will be shown in 12 venues across Kent in the following way: • Display case with museum objects/artists’ work and interpretation panel in venue foyer • Supporting exhibition trailer in car park or on street The project will also have its own website The trailer will include an interactive map of Kent, images and information about museum objects, information about the history of Kent and living in Kent, 3 short films and a computer with more information and the facility for visitors to add their own personal stories. The exhibition will start in September 2010 until February 2011, and will tour the following places: September – Tunbridge Wells October – East Kent, e.g. Herne Bay, Ramsgate, Hythe November – West Kent, e.g. Ashford, Tenterden, Canterbury December – North Kent, e.g. Gillingham, Gravesend, Sittingbourne January – Across the county February – Finale in Bluewater How you can help: Would the Land Rover Club be interested in getting involved in the project? This would be through: • Using your vehicle to tow the exhibition trailer, and with help, manning the exhibition trailer. The trailer has a 2000kg gross weight. Trailer dimensions are 4.5m length x 2.2m width x 2.3m height. • We would like volunteers to help on the weekends or during the week, and it could be for one day, a weekend or for a whole week or more. Any offers are welcome. • We would cover the costs of the fuel. • We would be pleased to include information about the club in the exhibition. If you are keen to help us please contact Suzie Plumb or Polly Harknett at Tunbridge Wells Museum & Art Gallery on 01892 554171 or by email on: Suzie.plumb@tunbridgewells.gov.uk Polly.Harknett@tunbridgewells.gov.uk Thank you
  21. Welcome to the forum, The oil drips which you can see, if they are from front wheels, most proberly from swivels, these are the big round shiny items (hopefully they are shiny) Most of these leak, they can be serviced, although often its best just to replace with new, cause if they are pitted you wont stop the leaks as the pitted wivels ruin the new seals. Hub oil seals if they have gone tend to leak into the wheel bearings, so when you are checking for grease all they is in there is oil.
  22. I will have a large Hoodie, and a large T shirt please
  23. They will fit but you need a 27mm socket for the nuts, but you will need rangerover wheel nuts, as these nuts are deeper which are shaped to fit the wheels, Standard lr wheel nuts will not hold the wheel securely.
  24. Gearbox in neutrel, transfer box in high ratio front wheel turns whilst backwheels are on the ground, is this a fault
  25. Tell me if i am wrong, but when i jacked up the off side front wheel it turned freely and so did propshalf, now i thought, normally i had to jack up back and front to enable wheels to turn when greasing props etc, am i wrong or am i just losing it!!!!! Its on a 300 tdi 1994
