  1. bit of a random one, but does anyone have a defender that could be borrowed (obviously some kind of insurance sorted) for a week or two. mine cant be fixed as its stuck in a workshop, and it appears the hire companies dont want to know or have run out-unless someone can suggest one? im trawling ebay to find a cheap disco with tax and test but thought i would try on here aswell! in the surrey area, for transporting tree surgeons to jobs any suggestions gratfully recieved
  2. im surprised DEFRA or ukhistory or forestry comission havent come in with assesments-although the reckon 40% of residential and commercial builds in last 10 years have caused massive compaction. surely though compaction is just on the list with erosion and the spread of pests, disease and fungi
  3. either that or make a chart with gold stars on for yourself?!
  4. get an ex mil 101, convert to coils, change v8 to hi comp or a 4+ rr v8
  5. well its already mad in haslemere (surrey) people dumping cars and about 2ish inches when i looked! and i still dont have a land rover that works and is near me!!!! 3 snows!
  6. were you the one pulling them out near four marks??
  7. Evidently someone must listen to you Nige-februarys LRO international has 3 pages on gearing!!!! "ed evans" evidently-i wonder if he is a member?1
  8. you could always get some arborists bull rope-and you could probably get a spliced eye in both end. id be impressed if you snapped that!
  9. id be there with bells on but i have to ride shotgun in mates rangie again and he is off to slindon!
  10. i know the p38's use a different (later) zf so i wondered if these will still take a lt230-if not it will have to be an earlier box-it would just save un bolting the newer one from the v8!!
  11. will a zf auto gearbox (probably from a p38, so its the zf4hp22eh) mate to a lt230?
  12. would it not be cheaper to get it from australia??
  13. legally not a great deal-its a bit a of a PITA and not all that many people actually realise it!
  14. mainly due to space-i have no space to keep it currently and figured that a few bits stacked in corner is slightly easier then a whole 90. perhaps i am just being too sentimental/it may well turn out to be waaaaaay too much hassle in which case i will just sell it as is! also i was going to sell a "few" bits off it however in hindsight if i sold too much it would need an sva anyway!
  15. well, spoke to the DVLA they advised that the chassis could go on but with the V5 and then have to be registered as change of ownership, but only as mine would more then likely require an SVA?! Now i have to ring VOSA as i am mighty confused
  16. hmmm. i understand why it may have to be destroyed, it just seems a waste that a perfectly good chassis would have to be cut up for bits when it could happily be used (on a purely un registered vehicle). I dont suppose it makes any difference that if it was rebuilt on a new chassis to original spec-i.e. not going down SVA route, as then it would just count as a chassis swap as opposed to a rebuild/build from scratch. please correct me if im wrong. sounds like i may have to have a re think
  17. i will give them a ring then me thinks
  18. Thanks-if the why exactly would the DVLA want proof of its destruction-only if its been destroyed?is there anything within the dvla guidelines that prevents me from selling the chassis without its id??
  19. I did try searching but it dosnt like the phrase v5 as its too short! Im just trying to clarify is it possible to strip down a defender and sell the chassis WITHOUT the id and keep the v5-so in essence the vehicle would exist on paper only and could be rebuilt on a new or unused chassis at a later date? I geuss if the chassis was sold and the new owner either used it on a purely offroad vehicle its not an issue, but if they put it on as a replacement (illegally) would the fall come back on me at all? Cheers Geoff
  20. i like it says collection only, then that he will ship to uk and europe!
  21. Does anyone either on the forum or can recommend someone (in the surrey/3 counties ish) area to supply with a fair few ammo tins. Need a load for a racking system being built through work. unless anyone can suggest anything similar sized offering a similar job??
  22. I did my engineering at guildford tech and they did used to do it as an evening class-dont know if they still do but worth trying. If not farnborough might-again its worth trying as sometimes tutors will do it for cash! after looking on map, have you considered asking at odiham? i would think they have enough people "qualified" to teach you who would be interested for gold/silver/beer
