  1. All I have had chance to do so far is do an area check from the numberplate. Whether this is important or not I'll wait and see but from the WV in the reg YWV * * * K, it was first registered in Wiltshire in 1972.
  2. Yep. Was on the Galv chassis with the 3.5 conversion done (not too well), and as much history as a 1 day old baby!! Apologies for the pics, but they are worth a thousand words they say. Here she is when I went got her home. Lastly these are the pics that sold it to me from the Ebay advert. And the Advert. Text says.
  3. Well I may phone them up and ask them as I don`t need it officially, I just want the details. A photograph of the card would be enough. That with the DVLA history, should sort it. Bugger.
  4. Ah ha Heritage Centre. But man that is expensive for what you get. Surely they could get the files online, and allow you to do a £5 search like you can with the census records etc. Not as if its giving any details you can`t get if you know the chassis number already, and there are no personal records either. You search using the chassis number, so I can`t see why, other than pure greed.
  5. Well thats cool I can see the DVLA from my house on the horison lol, so I may toddle off and have a look. As for the V5 it's looking like a Civvy as the dates are identical
  6. Lol welcome, you may have a few issues with actually driving it lol. This has been done tho.
  7. Lol, no worries guess mine is Civvy after all then?
  8. Cool. On a side issue, do the people who make the replacement chassis leave a makers name somewhere on the chassis??
  9. Are you referring to the chassis plate in the cab, or actually on the chassis?? As the original chassis was replaced for a Galv one. This is the chassis plate in the cab, but as you can tell its been moved, as its currently located on the drivers side seat tub.
  10. Hi I own a 1972 '88, which I am restoring. When I bought it I was told it was ex RAF, but I have no vehicle history at all. Is there anywhere that I can trace it's history?? The only history I have is the V5, reg plate, and chassis number. I know its had a LOT of work done to it in the past, like a galv chassis, and a 3.5 V8, and lots more. Also some heavy duty bumper bars all around. But I would love to know if it is indeed an RAF vehicle or not. All I do know is that under the many many coats of paint is some seriously yellow paint, which is curious to say the least.
  11. There is a blanking plug that I need to swap for a brass pipe with a thread on, that has a non return valve. I'm hoping to reuse as much as possible, but I'll be avoiding Brit Part as much as possible.
  12. If anyone is like me and likes looking through catalogues, can you see anything on this list I have missed out thats needed?? Apart from the obvious Drums themselves, as I may try and reuse them after a bit of work. Hoping that I don`t need new adjusters etc etc, but the last true drum setup I worked on was a good 15 years ago, last ones I have done were just parking brakes inside a disk brake.
  13. Cool, I will have a look and then make a super long list of parts. Have a few things to do before I venture into sorting then fitting the brakes. Like a vacuum feed from the V8 carb manifold, like the one in the pic above, which is also a non return valve. What I mainly want is some nice dry weather, or a garage to work in, as working outside is getting a bit.
  14. Well I've learnt something, more I learn the less I have to ask lol. I just got to find the best place to get decently priced shoes/cylinders, and master-cylinder with reservoir.
  15. Not that I thought you were wrong, I just went out and measured the fronts and here is the outside of the drum.
  16. Well I will be getting new drums and shoes, as I only really needed the backing plates, so new cylinders, and master cylinder. I know its daft buying parts you'll never use, but I'll need the originals for mocking up before I get the new parts.
  17. So do you think I had a good buy?? Paid £50 for the lot.
  18. Done it on my rear diff with an impreza, or push comes to shove take it to a gearbox place and say I want these insides, in that case. Just need to find where I can get a brake servo feed from the V8 inlet manifold, I know the location it uses, but not the part number for it.
  19. Well it may be because mine is a 1972 (Early) and apparently an Ex RAF vehicle (although can find no id), so may have had a change at some time from parts in the stockpile??? One word - rubbish. Can't be bothered welding, but if I do need it I have a mate who is a superb welder. As for changing the diff casing from one to the other that sounds more of a plan!! Hmmmmmmmm INTERSTING.
  20. God knows as I know nothing as to the origin of this vehicle. They are 11 inch back plates and rear brakes, they came off the Salisbury axle. They are the same size as the 11 inch front TLS brakes that are on the fronts. Just two quick questions, roughly how much should I have paid for the above? And where can I get a vacuum feed for the servo when fitted from the 3.5 V8 with twin SU carbs??
  21. Right these are the Axles I have fitted at the moment. Front. Rear. And here is what I picked up today.
  22. Cheers bud. Just need to shift this axle, or do I tell the guy to just take the brakes off?? lol.
  23. Well if someone wants one let me know as I'll be collecting it tomorrow, or in a couple of days.
  24. Anyone know how much a rear Salisbury axle is worth??? Got a rear with the job lot of brakes I just bought, as its cheaper to leave the brakes on for me to remove. So would be a L reg 1973 109 Salisbury axle, complete and working, minus the brake drums and backing plate?? Managed to get the front brakes, with rear brakes on the Salisbury axle, with single line servo and master cylinder, and a replacement front apron. As a job lot. He's having my spare front axle minus the shafts, as I don`t need it, would leave just the diffs to sort from a Disco. What Disco diffs do I need, what year?? Would they be 200tdi/300tdi?? As he's stripping a few discos too. So may get those off him if I can get them cheap enough.
