  1. I work on a hospital ward specialising in respiratory illness. Come and spend an hour with me if you need motivation to quit!!
  2. I had some problems with my stop solenoid not working properly (that's how I got air in my system). It might be worth replacing yours (£17 from a Bosch injection pump supplier place in Swindon) and putting a magnetised clean screw-driver down the hole it lives in to clean out any swarf that as built up over the years, sticking to the solenoid and preventing the plunger from moving easily. When I had problems with my engine not stopping / starting, that fixed it (been fine for the last 2 years since). Most annoying thing was making a spanner to get the thing out.
  3. Hey Mark, I think I know who is offering you those (Wayne?). I've been out when they were being used and they did great, certainly miles better than my at's but that's to be expected really. They just seem like a deeper tread MT than regular MT's. If I had the cash I'd snap them up. My only critisim would be that 7.50's are a bit on the skinny side, but that's what I'm running currently and I'm quite happy with them. They just don't look the business as 265/75's or even 235/85's do. Ant.
  4. Do a compression test, but it sounds like fuel to me. I had a similar problem when I got air in my fuel pump. I fixed it by bleeding the whole system through step by step. I'd consider checking the condition of the fuel line components to make sure they are delivering fuel as they should.
  5. Just FYI, I went to my local indy LR parts place (Bearmach Swindon) and following a sharp intake of breath following their quote of £48, they offered me 30% off, which brings it down to around £33. Still too steep for me, so I'm just replacing the top gaffer taped one for the time being. £33 for a two-foot length of plastic hose. They're having a giraffe.
  6. I'm still tweaking the clutch pedal following a slave cylinder change.
  7. Additionally, the mixing of fonts isn't great (i.e. CLASSIC) and it's not clear where the clickable links are.
  8. So, are you having a large graphic loading as the background to your frontpage? How will you accomodate different screen sizes / resolutions? Having designed and published a few sites, I wouldn't say that's a massive fixed-size graphic as your frontpage is a particularly good idea. Lovely dramatic picture though!
  9. I should add that I don't intend on using the gaffer fix for preventing water ingress while wading. I'll not be going anywhere near water until it's properly fixed. Unfortunately, I just don't have the cash for anything better and this will prevent the split getting any bigger and dust/dirt getting into the turbo.
  10. £48!!! I'm off to find the gaffer tape. I've just noticed the top hose (9) is also split on mine. I doubt I can afford a replacement one of those either. More silver tape then.
  11. Mine's split also, so I'll be keen to know a) the part number, B) how much the part costs & c) how you fit it. I'm guessing that the heater might need to come out to get down to the wing fixing.
  12. I'm also in Swindon. I've been to look at Foxham, but I can't say that it appealled much. I'm more of a laning person really. I've not yet been out with the LR4x4 locals, but would be up for it in the summer, when I'm less bogged down with college work. Ant.
  13. I did the tie-wrap (zip-tie) thing on mine also. Has worked a treat in that I've since replaced the slace cylinder and it pull off. I should have posted details up as a handy-hint, but I thought it was too obvious!
  14. As the original poster, I feel I should chip in. Others have pointed out 'they're just having fun.' I guess that's where I have a problem. I find putting fun and guns together just too scary / idiotic / socially unacceptable. I especially struggle with putting children, guns and fun together. I don't see it as being the same as putting cars or hammers and fun together as they weren't primarily designed to hurt people. I guess I'm just more keen to draw the line on things we should / shouldn't be allowed to play (i.e. have fun) with. I draw it under firearms. However, I don't know if banning them is a sensible choice, as I support the right to hunt for food. I'm also a committed carnivore and would be quite happy to go out and kill and gut the animal I intend to eat (have done in the past). So that leaves me stuck between a rock and hard place. But plonking kids in front of machine guns strikes me as insane. If nothing else, I think that should be banned. Oddly enough, I used to love shooting when I was young. I was quite good at it and considered taking part in competitions. I then did my firearms training in the RNR and decided it wasn't half as exciting or cool as I first thought. I haven't touched one since. Without wanting to open a whole other can of worms, I think this is a similar reason why people have argued about the right to hunting with dogs (i.e. fox hunting). I think it's because of the association of fun with the death of an animal that has put people's backs up. If the hunts people didn’t appear to have such a great time, I doubt the antis would have kicked up such a stink. I think similar arguments apply to the wearing of fur. If wearing fur was purely a practical means of keeping warm, rather than a symbol of decadence and luxury it probably wouldn't bother people. Anyway, I digress….
  15. Those septic tanks are scary scary loons. Full Auto Shoot
  16. Recieved my samples from Si (X-Eng) today. Just wanted express my gratitude to Si. I've not had a chance to fit them yet, I'll let you know what they're like when I do. Thanks again to Si !
  17. Nice one. I've always insured my 90 with the national farmer's union. Always been cheaper than other offers I've received so I've not considered changing. I've had to register some points on my licience in the last year though, so I'm waiting to see how that affects my next quote.
  18. Best - Two series door bottoms (£10 for both) to replace my rotten defender ones with. Worst - Two bearmach door strikers for above. The casting is sufficiently different from the genuine article for them not to work at all. I should take them back really!
  19. I've used bearmach in Swindon quite a few times with mixed results. All I'll say is that I'm glad they're local to me as they usually have what I need, and it's not far to go to return the bits that turn out to be wrong / faulty!
  20. Starter relay found (I knew where it was, just wasn't sure which one of the 6 in the fuse box it was). I've replaced it and it's fixed the problem. Wish I'd persisted with that first before removing the manifolds. Ahh well, in the process, I've found that my clutch slave is leaking so I'm replacing that also. Thanks for the help everyone.
  21. Right, I couldn't get near the damn starter with my meter, so I've removed the manifolds for a better view. I'm not completely sure of how the starter functions. Could someone here tell me what I should expect to read across these numbered terminals before I pull the starter out? 1. is obviously the main positive from the battery, so should be permenantly +12 v 4. is obviously the main earth. I'm guessing that 2 is the solenoid negative switch triggered by the ignition, so I should only get continuity to earth when the ignition is turned. Am I correct with these assumptions? So, what the heck is 3 and 5 (two additional positives connected to 1)? And where would I find the starter relay?
  22. Thanks Greg. Numpty question coming up ... ... where is the main earth cable? The thick ones going to the starter look fine & secure. Scratch that last question, it's bloody obvious where that is!! I've checked that and it looks fine. A touch dirty, but fine.
  23. Welll I've just bought and fitted a new battery and that's not made any difference. Bugger. I'm £70 lighter and still not going anywhere. Any other ideas before I rip the starter out?
  24. Hmm, hadn't thought about the battery. All the dash lights come on OK, and the clicking was very fast before it completely stopped. I'll go and have another look. Cheers chaps.
