  1. Anyone know whats happened to them? Site has said its undergoing maintenance for months now? Have they went under?
  2. Years ago i sprayed roof lining in my capri with a matt black spray paint made by Krylon. It still looks like new today.
  3. Has anyone heard any reviews, or know someone who has bought one of these.. http://www.onlinegearboxparts.com/product/defender-lt77-slickshift/
  4. I gotta be honest with you, being down on compression on 2 cylinders wont stop an RV8 from running. Err have you checked order of ignition leads...
  5. Thanks for all the advice guys. Its owned by a mechanic at an independent LR garage here in Scotland. I mentioned all the areas you guys have mentioned to me, and not only does he say that there is no sign of rot, but he says that there has been no welding done to it either! Its had a new clutch 5 months ago and just through an mot. Regarding the axles, i have 2 new casings lying in the garage as i couldnt get what i wanted for them a few years back. Im glad of that now! Anyway it sounds like a clean one so im going to look at it on Tuesday. I'll post pics if we get it.
  6. Bugger me. I thought defners were bad lol
  7. Im a total Disco newbie. Defenders are usually my thing, but my old man has seen a 300tdi disco 1 for sale reasonably close to him. Seller has offered to send me pics. Where should i ask him to take close up pics of on the vehicle? Where are the common places for them to go? Thanks in advance Phil
  8. Im going to chime in with something a little controversial. It kind of picks up where Bowie left off with him saying some genuine parts arent any better than cheapo aftermarket - Some months ago i bought a genuine LR V8 composite valley gasket from my nearest dealer. Upon fitting i noticed half of the ports were covered by about 2mm of gasket! Baring in mind this was after i had chucked a cheapo aftermarket one in the bin already! I ended up taking gasket back off and carefully dremelling it to fit. Now heres the controversial bit. When i was at said dealer, what did i see? Only a bloody great Britpart lorry parked at the tradesmans entrance!!!
  9. Heres my theory... After people telling him time and time again to check coil pack wiring, and him saying yes yes ive checked it multiple times, he discovered it WAS wrong all along.. Gentlemen place your bets....
  10. Hmmm the plot thickens. He must be off his jaffa cakes
  11. Errrr waiting! Not even Fridge is spilling. Must be super top secret!
  12. No the TD5 wiper wheelboxes run that way. There would be no room to fit them upside down..
  13. Not really. I think im going to have to get the TD5 panel. It looks like the vent levers mounting holes are in a different place.
  14. Will the TD5 levers fit my old style dash panel though?
  15. Oh balls. Its the old style vent levers i have Cheers Les
  16. This build is fighting me all the way now. Just when i was over my mid-build blues...... Offered up the bulkhead vent handles to discover that they foul the tubes for the wiper motor spiral drive. Everything is TD5 except the dash panel that the handles mount to. The only thing i can think of is the dash panel again?? Oh and in my boxes of parts i came across this part (2nd pic). What is it for?
  17. Thanks guys. Looks like i can just cut the brackets off my dash plate and drill a hole to fit onto the brackets on the bulkhead..
  18. Yep thats what ive found Les, the bottom is the same apart from 1 hole. But the top is nothing like it. The brackets on the bulkhead appear to be holding the plate out too much at the top in order to get the rest of the dash components to fit. I had a look at your thread but a lot of the pics i cant open?
  19. Attempting to reassemble the dash on my 110. Big thank-you to PaulMc for supplying custom harnesses even though hes been ill recently The dash plate im referring to is part number MXC8574 (which is the part i have), however for the TD5 has a part number of AHP710180. Has anyone tried to mate up the old plate with TD5 bulkhead? It doesnt seem to be working for me?
  20. Oh for the love of Peter what was it?? It could prove useful for the rest of us. Dont worry if its something embarrassing. We've all done stoopid things before...
  21. Galv, T-wash, POR-15, then 3M Body Schutz. Then forget all about it for 10 years
  22. Non-landy related topic. Mods please feel free to remove if you feel the need.... However..... Ive been looking at a car that has been recorded as a Cat C damaged/repaired. Am i correct in thinking that the owner should have a certificate from VOSA detailing what damage was done, and that it was repaired to a required standard? Thanks in advance guys.
