  1. Bloody hell Jeff. Hope you didnt strip all that stuff off just for me!? Either way, thats very helpful indeed. Yes they are the same. For some reason they looked different with all the gubbins around them. The only thing thats different is the rubber grommet thing sitting on top of the bracket. Dont know what there for but doesnt look like il need them anyway. I can see exactly where they bolt to now. Many thanks Phil
  2. The diagram i attached is from the old parts book. And the bracket on it looks identical to what i have (ERC3892) It looks way different to what you have fitted?
  3. Thanks for reply Bowie. I'll have a look. Hopefully the spindle will be ok. Im assuming that the bushes will be made of softer material than the spindle. Wonder if theres a company that now sells the spindles? I noticed over on the V8 forum that some members were producing small batches of spindles, but it was for the twin-plenum. Dont know if the spindles on these are different?
  4. Awesome pics Jeff thanks. Just what i was after. Oddly though, the brackets look completely different to mine? Number 7 above.
  5. I think i may have asked this a while back, but cant find it so apologies to anyone thats answered this before.... Before finally fitting the plenum onto my V8 id like to know if theres anything on it that should be rebuilt or checked for wear? Especially on the throttle linkage side. Ive noticed that on the throttle spindle there are some bushes. Are these prone to wear? Id just like to pre-empt any potential problem areas on the plenum before i attempt to run the engine up.
  6. Will the fact that ive an R380 fitted make any difference?
  7. Got myself the brackets to mount the air cleaner housing. ERC3892 and ERC3893. I cant for the life of me see where they attach to. I thought maybe 1 end would attach to rear of cylinder head, and the other end to inlet manifold but no matter how i position it, it doesnt seem to line up. Could someone that has a V8 with standard air cleaner setup tell me where these attach to? Im concerned maybe my inlet manifold (from disco V8i) doesnt have the mounting hole i require? Cheers Phil
  8. Just got the temp gauge sender fitted to inlet manifold. AMR1425 I thought i would need a bullet connector to fit it http://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/product/31 But no joy. It doesnt fit. Does anyone know what connector i need to hook up my temp gauge sender?
  9. This can be tricky. Especially as different companies have different ideas for what "OEM" means.... From your description i would hazard a guess that "normal" will be a cheaper pattern part. "premium" will be a genuine LR part, and "OEM" in plain box will be a part manufactured by the same company that supplies LR but in their own packaging, ie not in a LR box. But as ive discovered in the past, this is not gospel. If its an "important" part ie something that is a show-stopper if it breaks, then buy a genuine part from your local dealer. Then your 100% sure its the real deal. Avoid Britpart like the noro virus...... Yes some of their parts are acceptable but i wouldnt risk it. Hope thats of some help
  10. As per Niges upgrade, ive just purchased a Defender 300TDI air filter housing for my RV8. However. Ive just discovered that the straps i need to attach the filter housing to the block are £EEEK EACH!! Has anyone came up with a solution for securing the housing that doesnt require a sizeable personal loan?
  11. After finding out from a friend today where to earth my lambda sensor, it occured to me that i dont have ANY of the earth points connected on my defender. This is due to a loooooong-running ground up rebuild... So as title suggests, if someone could let me know where all the major earth points should be, id be very grateful. Will the fact that i have a galv chassis affect anything chassis-wise?
  12. Nige, it appears that you have taken your phone number off the site...
  13. Having a look at the site to see how much the crimp-type DB37 connectors are but everything listed as out-of-stock. How much are these? Was quite happy to use the solder-type but discovered that the solder buckets are not at all happy about accepting 1mm wire. In fact after some research find that 20awg (or equivalent) is the max size recommended for the solder-type..
  14. Boy will this open a can of worms.... BFG A/T's? Or maybe even M/T's? Ive been in a defender on road with the M/T's and i dont think there too loud...
  15. Cheers. Think i'll add them as suggested
  16. Having the "FP" terminal on the relay board feeding both coils, fuel pump, lambda heater and PWM Orange wire means 5 wires are being spliced into 1. Is this ok? If not, could i ease the burden on the "FP" terminal and maybe utilize some of the relay boards spare terminals?
  17. 40 views and not 1 reply from the MS experts lol. Not to worry, Sam (Mr Noisy) has helped me over the phone... Your a star mate!
  18. Wondering where i need to take the wire from EDIS pin 6 (Blue/Yellow) to, considering im using the relay/fuse board?
  19. Big tarts handbags! I never understand people who want a defner with suede this, and leather that. FFS just buy a new RR. Approx the same money....
  20. When making this up, would i be correct in thinking that i dont need to solder wires from pins 3,4,5,and 6 of the DB37 connectors? Im sure i read somewhere that these were only required if running MS2? Or is there another reason i should include them anyway?
  21. As per Niges recommendations i want to use the 300TDI air cleaner assembly on my 4.6. Has anyone used this? If so, is the air cleaner body mounted to the V8 using the standard 300TDI air cleaner mounting brackets or is fabricating some brackets necessary?
