Cracking thread Nige - cant wait to read up on your WB tuning experiences... B)
Quick question of my own. Im planning to go 'serpentine' on the front of my 4.6. Given that i will be using MS when the time comes. Are there any issues i should be aware of regarding crank sensor placement etc. Or will it be just the same as non-serp?
thanks for the info fridge. ive been having a good read at nige's thread recently, and its fascinating stuff. the only thing that concerns me slightly is the sheer volume of wiring required - and i dont have a garage to work in..
im off to do some studying of MS in general, and try to arm myself with as much knowledge as i can.
ive no doubt i'll be picking your (and nige's) brains in the near future with silly questions - please forgive me...
ive now been told that using the cbr600 throttle bodies will not give me good low to mid-range torque. surely this is depedent on how there set up etc....
OK im sold, after a little research, ive found that holleys and webers perform a little roughly ( ) off-road...
So im starting to be seriously drawn towards efi. Baring in mind that im starting with a previously carb-run engine and no wiring harness whatsoever, what will be my complete shopping list?
Im at the point where im starting to think about how im going to fuel my 4.6. Ive been considering using 600cc bike throttle bodies, but im concerned about how much electric/electronic gubbins would have to go along with this option - i dont want wires and ECU's everywhere...
OR do i go weber/edelbrock 500 on an appropriate manifold. I know the tb's have the potential of giving a lot more power than the weber....
Any ideas?
I may be wrong (not unknown) but are the chassis not completely submerged in a zinc bath? If so, there is no reason why every single nook and cranny shouldnt be completely galvanised....
After purchase of a galvanised chassis, is it worth painting it for even more protection? And if so, what should it be painted with? Would i be correct in assuming that the galv finish will require a special paint to adhere to it properly...
i cant understand it either, but its true. also, ive seen pics on another lr forum showing welding of a chassis that is just awful. im not saying there all like that, but for the money they charge NONE of them should be bad...
Id be interested to hear peoples experience (good or bad) with new chassis. Ive seen some pictures recently of Designa and Richards Chassis - the quality of which would curl your toes!! Some of the welding is so bad it defies belief, crossmembers fitted wrong way round etc....It leaves me confused because i'll be in the market for a galv chassis soon, but if im shelling out £1200 i want the quality to be top notch...
I have the chance of picking up an R380 for my 90 build. However it comes from a 300TDi disco. Obviously i'll need a different bellhousing to fit it onto my 4.6, but what else will i need to change?
When buying axles/diffs for my defender project, does it make a big difference if they utilise 3 or 4 bolt prop-shaft flanges? Is the 3 bolt design weak?
