  1. How much is involved in galving a previously galv'd chassis? My mates 90 was recently damaged by a truck. The damage to the rear cross-member area is pretty bad. He now plans to rebuild the 90 completely. It looks like he'll get away with welding on a new cross-member with the extension pieces. Once done, he wants to re-galv the whole lot.
  2. So ive got myself a nice td5 110 galvanised chassis, and a freshly built V8. Which bellhousing will i need to fit the R380 i have in there? Will it be a normal V8 type? Thanks in advance...
  3. Just wondering if there is a quick/easy way of identifying td5 axles from other axles?
  4. Dont worry - i'll be taking a mate and my trusty 12 bore....
  5. Now have address. Maybe a friend of his read this and let him know..... Either way im now good to collect on sat. Cheers guys
  6. It wasnt buy it now, it was just a normal auction. Ive looked everywhere in my ebay account but there defo wasnt an address for the guy. I dunno what hes playing at mate to be honest. Ive spoken to him twice on the mobile number he gave and twice he has said 'yeah i'll text you my postcode/addy' but he never has. Its weird because although he has only had 17 transactions his feedback is 100%.
  7. No. Its cash on collection so i dont have an invoice..
  8. Thanks fella. Yeah i know the number - it was me who bought the chassis off him. The problem seems to be that he refuses to give me his postcode/addy to go and get the damned thing. I understand if hes security conscious but i really need to know where im going to make arrangements. Just wondered if anyone knew him..
  9. Does anyone know who this fleabay user ID belongs to? Just wondered if it was anyone on here. Id like a wee word with him...
  10. Is there any way i can modify a galv td5 chassis to accommodate my V8 engine without effectively destroying the chassis? I ask because ive seen a bargain close to me..
  11. Ive just been informed that Britpart's 4.0/4.6 big-end bearings are actually manufactured by King Piston Co. Has anyone had any dealings with them or know if they are any good?
  12. your right. its not what i wanted to hear. the only thing that crossed my mind though was that although britpart was selling them, maybe there actually manufactured by someone else???? ive just completed my bottom-end
  13. As some of you know im in the middle of a 4.6 build. Ive completed the bottomend and im currently stripping the heads. Now ive been around long enough to know the reputation that Britpart has for parts failing. Im now a little nervous because the main / big-end bearings i bought from island 4x4 came in the dreaded blue box. As im getting impatient to finish this build i used them but now the more i think about it, the more im concerned. Has anyone used their bearings before and had problems. Also when i bought the rods/pistons for the engine, they came minus bearings. These new bearings dont completely cover the rod/cap surface if you know what i mean? The journal diameter is correct ie 2.3" but they dont seem wide enough. Is this normal on the 4.6?
  14. solved. got some at focus. thanks chaps.
  15. thanks chris. i'll give focus a try. when asked at bandq i was actually told they didnt sell it?
  16. does anyone know where you can buy caustic soda? ive tried b&q - none, homebase - none... im getting fed up running round the country. who sells it?
  17. nice 100" for sale on flea-bay at the mo.. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LAND-ROVER-DEFENDER-...86.c0.m14.l1318 How exactly do you go about achieving the short rear overhang? And i take it its cut-down 110 bodywork? Ive seen other 100" trucks but they seem to have a standard rear overhang...
  18. No mention of the rods / big-ends in there my friend...
  19. i tried downloading the rave manual but for some reason it wont complete the download. thought you would have known this one fridge - very disappointed..
  20. anyone? i know there is some 4.6 guys on here.....
  21. When i bought my 4.6 crank, rods and pistons i noticed that the big-end caps were all fitted to the rods but some were fitted a different way round from the others. Now that im installing the rods/pistons i need to know the correct way round the caps are fitted to the rods. Does the bearing locating tab in the rod go to the same side or opposite side to the locating tab on the cap?
  22. Sorry fella, but that is NOT stainless if its rotting like that....
  23. Id love to tell you that its not as bad/expensive as it sounds.............But id be lying!
  24. that sounds like the one. thanks for that link fella....
