  1. This is on the calendar, but for all those in the South East and at a loose end on Monday then: http://www.southcoasttrekkers.com/ Has details of Flimwell off road site. BTW You will need M/T tyres. Was down there today, helping making some new tracks, holes etc. Had about a dozen lads from the Kent Off Road Club come along for a play today aswell - they all had Simex tyres on and most of them got stuck at least once. However you should be okay on 238/85 BFG M/T's as a minimum. This is a new site to the public, but has been used for private off road club events up until now. The surface is mainly wet clay and mud, NO stones or flint.
  2. Interestingly, tracker is now owned by Direct Line Insurance (aka RBS insurance). BTW found this really interesting device: Foot locker Small enough to keep in he glove box.
  3. Yostumppy (hey watch out for that stump when out biking) mark. Yep good idea (BTW out laning in Kent on Saturday see other forum) Also how about a poll on other parts of your LR body being snatched while you sleep - hey does that sound like a horror movie to you too ? My mate has rigged his alarm up, so that if any wires to the winch are cut it kicks off the 200 watt alarm - enough to wake the hounds from hell behind their triple glazed sanctuaries. Believe you me his neighbours are the hounds from hell.
  4. This was how someone else got out of those ruts Mark: And yes the exit was a tad slippery :
  5. Keith, That's really dreadful, have put the word out on a couple of other 4x4 forums I belong to in the South East. Suggest others do the same including the following link : http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=9863 linking back to your message. The more who can keep there eyes out the better - can you post any more photo's / details - distinguishing body panel damage or styling etc, ? Am off to Wales at later in the week so will keep my eyes peeled on the way. My father had his 300tdi 90 stolen off his driveway, turned up 3 miles away about a week later. Whilst I had my winch and bumper stolen 2 months ago - thieves in the night. So know how you are feeling. Peter.
  6. Mud plugging at Flimwell Glad you enjoyed the site. If anyone is interested in Hiring it for their club, please PM me and I'll pass your details on - alternatively log onto the following website and contact Chris who is managing the site for the owner. http://www.southcoasttrekkers.com Last weekend in Feb is already booked out - to SLSLRC (L2B Crew) Its the intention to open Flimwell up for 'pay and play' days - hopefully filling the space in the calendar where Rusper used to be,( alongside Bures, Grand Canyon and Slindon,) as well as allowing anyone who wants to hire the site - use of it - 4x4's, Quads, film crews, female mud wrestling etc,. Flimwell was originaly exclusive to the TwinAxle.com club. Whose members include Jim Marsden, Chris Ould and few others from the Winch challenge scene. Two other TwinAxle members - were we think the only ones to get all the punches at this weekend's event, before anyone else. http://www.twinaxle.com The site also boasts an onsite Motel, Toilets and campsite. I was there yesterday assisting Chris on site (wearing the short sleeve viz) , and taking lots of pictures - some for the next incarnation of the website but mostly for my entertainment and festish ooohhh mud......... Hey, how come they've chopped my head off on the front of TOR this month, and got a full shot of Brendon Hughes-Hill (Can I have my spare viz back now Bren?) not so bad on P.33 though. Got some great video that day - availble under the counter in a brown envelope...... Cheers Peter
  7. It would appear so: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/6177820.stm
  8. Don't know if anyone else has posted this, but according to Ofcom website - OFCOM & CB Kicks in on 8th December apparently. Apparently tis an offence to swear on a CB rig, so be interesting to see that one imposed by ye old plod. BTW found this info out via BBC news website talking about legalising MP3 transmitters to in car radios.
  9. It gets worse, I believe this approved draft to the England version of NERC was discussed here: Welsh assembly - NERC 9. I have recently been asked by Ministers in DEFRA for policy clearance for two proposed Government amendments to the Bill. The amendments have arisen as a result of points raised during House of Commons Committee consideration in early August. The proposed changes are as follows: 1. enforcement of wildlife offences – the change proposed here would enable police to enter land (other than a dwelling) without the necessity of obtaining a warrant where they have reasonable cause to suspect that a wildlife offence has been committed; 1. limited powers to allow National Park Authorities to issue Traffic Regulation Orders with respect to unsealed roads in their areas. 10. With regards i, I believe that this change would be helpful in strengthening the existing wildlife enforcement provisions, and I consider that ii would be helpful in helping Park Authorities to control illegal "offroading" by motorcycles and 4 x 4 vehicles on tracks in the countryside. Also if interested i suggest Reading the PDF file on item 7 from the following link: Items of meeting Have just browsed over this but seems a tad heavy for the lay reader , any lawyers in the audience know what it means - factually ? All looks damn grim. Bloody controlling government - will ban freedom of speech next.
  10. Hi all, Got a friend of mine moving from Kent to Banbury - does anyone know any club that covers the Banbury area, thanks. Peter
  11. Blimey 2007 is going to be expensive attending shows every other weekend. Now that Billing is back on, now LRM are sponsoring Manby !! With Scorpion Racing ? Scorpion Racing LRM Show 2007 I might go to Tongfest instead: Tongfest 2007.
  12. On a diesel 90, does anyone know how to restrict or stop fuel coming out of the cap region when the vehicle is at an angle that causes the fuel in the tank to flow up the filler pipe. I.e. when winching up steep slopes, I seem to loose loadsa diesel out the filler cap. cheers Peter
  13. Well that was fun First time to Grand Canyon - went with a pal of mine from Kent LRC who has never been to a pay-as -play site before, oh and also took a bunch of lads from TwinAxle club too. Awsome site lots of fun - recommend to anyone who has never been off road before - to experienced off-roaders - great site. Cheers Peter
  14. Thanks, I don't think welding the bumper chassis bolts in will work, equally the rounded caps will mean when the winch breaks or the bumper bends - how the hell do you get them off, - which in my case has been nearly every other month. Yes I know the various nut and bolt places locally, and indeed could change all my bolt heads for tri-lug bolt heads that need a key like allloy locking wheels - but this is an expense route I should not have to go down. And could give me problems if out in the field and haven't got the key with the vehicle. Thoughts of extreme cold, a muddy hole on the last lane of the day and teeming rain come flooding to my mind. (right John ) Perhaps its something for Si @ X-eng to design, btw he's looking for a vitara auto to borrow. Have spent the last 9 months trying to get a half decent winch that does not break on its first pull, and a bumper that does not bend negotiating a cross angle situation. At the end of the today - I think I'm mostly gutted at losing the grill. Sentimental reasons. Like photo's when your house is broken into. The winch wasn't perfect, and always felt the bumper was a few inches too low anyway. A couple of friends of mine from Kent LRC say they have bought alarms for their landrover's today, another has decided to keep his winch in the garage, and only put it on when going off roading - well his is a more expensive USA model. And he only takes it out about once a month. If anything, think everyone should be on their guard and not assume the winch is safe on the front of their vehicles. Cheers Peter BTW been 15 hours and still awaiting for the police to phone back !
  15. Stolen off of my 90 sometime last night from Swanley, Kent. After having a superb day out at Brighton. Details of what was taken. Grill, 3 top bars painted gloss military green rest drab olive. D44 Bumper (Very rare) bought Billing 2006 Beamach Winch Bra Come-up DV9000i winch Serial number 022868 Galvanised D rings, Master Pull aluminum Hawse (Imprinted) Master Pull synthetic winch rope - yellow with first strand orange (From USA) Was all bolted together with new extra long bumper bolts - also taken D44 bumper has elongated holes - adapted to make bumper fit to front of 90. All very straight. The bumper is slightly unique not only having the famous tapered ends and D44 stamped in it, but also having been drilled to have a winch bra fitted, with the 2 extra holes in front. The date is currently wrong but some photo's of the set up can been seen here: http://www.kentlandroverclub.co.uk/2006/stolen.htm If anybody hear's anything please let me know in here. I will be at the sortout - selling again this year - so will have a look around as much as possible. Cheers Peter
  16. Well, I should imagine this has split the field a bit. Personally I like the Peterborough show-ground site, very secure. Decent toilets and shower block. Shame we can't just have one massive show there. Also heard from the retailers at P'boro show that they are going to organise their own show next year as fed up paying loads to 3rd party to show to us public. Means they cannot pass on discounts if its taken from them first to have a pitch. Think we should all support this idea not - who has the best magazine with the most adverts event. Peter
  17. As menioned it may have been recovered by the insurance company then passed either through a reputable garage or auction house. Without knowing the whole story, I think it would be irresponsible to assume ( ass u me) they are selling a known stolen vehicle - it may be being sold as a stolen recovered - thats been put back on the road. Should imagine Mark was re-imbursed by his insurance company. So wait to hear from him first if he even knows.
  18. Miketomcat, Would suggest contacting the GLASS rep for the area you are going to visit, as there are rumours the Welsh Assembly will go live with the NERC bill by then. I.E all rupps will be closed. Probably find more out here : Green Lane Association.

  20. The 110 has come up for sale on ebay today - same reg and all. Will wait to here from Mark (Yostumpy) first. Assume it was recovered at some point after the insurance paid out - will see what he says.
  21. I put 33 back with a yellow tie-warp, the only one we knew that got lost was 38 - probably broke off, and got lost in the mud - assuming this is where is was. Graham Fuller, broke both front halfshafts trying to get this one After the event myslef and Turbocharger (??) had to go and collect 7 punches but could not even find 38.
  22. Lawrence, been mentioning this down me local clubs this month, but think many of them want to save there loose change for Billing next week so have had no takers maybe next month we'll make it. Am sure there will be others there though.
  23. Just a thought, if your not getting the numbers in that you need, why not do same format as elsewhere: Site opens at 9:00 am £20 on the gate. (Same as Woodlands, still) Stick to 3rd sunday of month like a limpet - come rain or shine 1 attendee or 60. You'll soon get a following. BTW goto the other pay'n'play sites and give out discount entry tickets - say £5 off on production of this flyer/ticket. Also send a flyer out to all the 4x4 clubs and 4x4 parts and accessories shops and or garages in a 100 mile radius.
