  1. Right then, I am playing about with some late jag v8 engines and prety much everything on them are stamped ford so thats the obvious manufacturer but i have been looking at V8's from the ford mustang and it appears the same block but without buying one and striping it i am not to shure and info is a bit thin, I am looking becouse the jags are 4.0L and 4.2L And the mustang do a 5.0L so a bigger capacity and if parts like the heads are interchangable then then the supercharger could possably be thrown on for a bit more grunt, Carl.
  2. Split rims are easy, I split rims for saley on my lathe but its not your average size machine so you may need to look for another way like using a sliting disk in a small grinder, These pictures show the basic set up but dont show the inner ring that makes the rims work, My advise is unless you can get the materials or your laser cutting done very cheep then it will work out cheeper to buy them of someone who sells them, These are Double bead lock rims so they have a inner ring to hold tyre edge onto both rims, The rim is split 2mm above the spokes The 2 rings needed And whith the rings in place These are basicly what Gsr341 has on his truck, Carl.
  3. Just a question on this, What if my bussines is motorway maintainance then i will be miles from home and on land i dont own?
  4. Appart from drain/filler plugs it wont make a differance,
  5. Are you wanting single or double bead locks, Double bead work with a internal ring that sits inside tyre and when rims are bolted up it holds the tyre both sides whereas single only hold outer edge, So when compairing price bear this in mind as double are for obvious reason are more expensive but are much better when runing very low presure, A single still has a chance of poping of rim at inner side when running low presure, Carl.
  6. Ok, not cluch so my bet is with its got somthing to do with the geerbox, think im'e on a winner here, Carl.
  7. Just a question, in the vid i can see you have drilled out the plunger to take a nut/bolt, have you got enough clearance for shaft to fit into it, Carl.
  8. While you save your penies you will have time to reserch more about hydraulics, You wont go wrong with a winch from john, they are solid built and you wont bust one, I built 90% of the protoype so know a bit about them, They are totaly rebuilable, every rotating part is on a ball or roller bearing, built overkill, and john has taken them on with the air freespool, milemarker's are a pain with plastic bearings on drum, they get crud in and wear out fast so freespool isnt very free, The pump set up is being looked at so in another year better pump set up's will be available, Maybe spendy but worth every pennie, Carl.
  9. The rams are coustom made by a engineering company for john so not available anywhere else, They do the biz so worth geting set up with them, Carl.
  10. This is the future of off road! extreeme sledge challenge.
  11. The only way to satisfy all is to have very clearly defined classes. Then all you do is build your truck for your class of choice. Agree with you on this, some clubs do opperate a handicap system on classes
  12. What do the rules say about any of these? - Turning up in a lightened UniMog or C303 I like your thinking, ime of to look for a mog so standard class look out, Going back of topic, It also seams to be dictated by how well equiped your workshop is and how skilled you are a using it, you can build a good spec truck on a tight budget, just how you go about it, your bank ballance for the checkbook builders who are able to ring up a company and spec anything they want but still wont make them a better driver, so hydro steer? If a pipe did burst then on a typical challenge event no great speed is done so you would have time to stop then sort out pipe with your spare and carry on, (open can of worms) Shurely roll cage's would be more a safety issue lots of rolls on HW this year, all had cage's (close can of worms) Carl.
  13. So as simon points out class system or like challenger do a handicap system level things up, Carl.
  14. Just to throw a spanner in works how would this work, If i was to take a unimog 404 and get some weight of it to under whatever limit is and enter in standard class how would this be deemed? portals, lockers etc, Carl.
  15. I totaly agree with geting new peole into the sport but i thought clubman type events are designed for newcomers, very few throw themselves in at top end challenge events, Carl.
  16. This maybe so but big rubber trucks with portals, rear steer hydro steer etc are a minority at moment but with how fast the scene has changed over last few years this is going to change and more of this type of truck will be appering so maybe event organisers need to accomadate, HW seems to do fine with them, Just my oppinion, Carl.
  17. So if my truck when finished (It will have full hydro and rear steer)goes for and passes a inspection and is deemed to be road legal as a aggricultural type truck then why would this not pass any scrutineering, Carl.
  18. I you will travel to wigan i can do it, Carl.
  19. Look at disco 200 tdi mounts, these should do what you want, i am using them on the jag, will post a pic if you need to see them, Carl.
  20. Just need to look for a few grands worth of fireworks going of, Carl.
  21. As per title realy, Any good manufacturer or supplier, I know tomcat do them but want to look around, Carl.
