I'm pretty sure that the Challenger Series was aimed at novices originally, hence that sentence. I don't think the AWDC is insulting current entrants of the series. Just out of interest, have you ever competed or attended a Scorpion/HW/XL 'level' (whatever that means) AWDC event?

Nope, I'm a simple club member who lives farrrrr away now, who still manages to contribute to the club mag occasionally and gets angry when people blame the 'club' for it's slight content some months. I'm nothing to do with any organising committee or event organising or anything. You're right, getting back on track, this is a great series; Dad and I had a great time in 2009 when we entered. I look forward to seeing the reports come flooding in to the mag.

The All Wheel Driver relies on it's members to write articles and submit them. So if no one who attended the Challenger Series wrote an article or submitted pics, nothing got printed. Simples.

The AWDC are running the first round of their trials championship there on Sunday if anyone fancies a pop. Or, if anyone was thinking of coming for an 'unofficial, throw the farmer a tenner' play, don't cos you won't be able to!!

I always used lightweight mountain bike gloves for bitching.... they were a bit more costly but lasted.... I dunno, price above seems ok?

We've got a 2010 Forester (2.5 non turbo poverty spec) over here in the States, and I'm sooo impressed with it. Was driving round in the east coast blizzard last night, the only other people on the road were in plow trucks. It didn't falter once in some horrible snow conditions. Oh, and we've spent a week driving around the desert at KOH this year and it didn't get stuck in the sand once (though when the little orange traction light came on you knew it was getting close!). Quite funny watching the faces of the guys in $100k race buggies as we drove by... Gets great mpg, has a ton of room and is well designed inside. We're about to drive from Long Island NY to Tucson AZ for the second time this year.... Managed to put 25k on it in a year!
