  1. I'd be very surprised if your main dealer cannot supply replacements - they are still supplying the ones for the rest of the Wolf fleet! Ross
  2. In a way you're right, but this is intended for training purposes only. If you dont have a B+E, you should only be towing a trailer over 750kg MAM if a). the person sat beside you has grandfather rights or has held their B+E for 3 years and b ). you are doing so as training in preparation for your test and c). you are displaying L plates . As such, whilst you can tow a loaded trailer under these circumstances (i.e. to gain experience), the regulations are not intended to allow you to bypass having to take the test at all. If you are stopped by the Police or VOSA and you are contravening any of these stipulations, you (the driver) and potentially your co-driver could face legal action. Ross
  3. It gets cheaper if you can supply the tow car and trailer (which must be over 750kg MAM). Best tip I can offer is to get the trailer with the greatest distance between the drawbar and the wheels possible - it makes the reversing serials of the test sooo much simpler. Dont get a stupid little plant trailer that flicks round and jacknifes if you look at it wrong. Ross
  4. As far as the engine goes, the Td5 is superb provided its been well looked after, so look for regular and comprehensive maintenance, espcially with one thats done c20k miles a year. Bear in mind that the load capacity of a 130 is very small as its a particularly heavy vehicle, especially if its got a Quadtech type body. Since most 130s have been used commercially, in particular by utility companies, check the chassis thoroughly and also the suspension for signs of wear and tear. Hope that helps. Ross
  5. Call me cynical, but I'm sure this behaviour from the Magazines has absolutely nothing to do with the huge amount of advertising money Scorpion spends with them and all the free trial products they get to fit to their vehicles.... Dave may be the first person of this type that you've met, but I can assure you that he is not the only one out there! And just for the elimination of any doubt, I'm quite sure he's referring to the quality rather than the price tag! Good use of the word "extreme" I think you'll find that a fairly brief use of the Search function of this site will unearth a good few examples of Scorpion's product quality. Sure, it may not look any different, but a large number of members on here will testify to its difference in performance. Whilst everyone is entitled to their own opinion, it is difficult to ignore the large number of stories about Scorpion's products and most certainly about their customer service and business ethics. There's no smoke without fire, as the saying goes.... I completely agree with John, I could not comfortably support a company who seem perfectly happy to rip off so many suppliers and carry on trading (albeit in a different guise) as if nothing had happened. Ross
  6. Ah, that would make sense! Really should pay a bit more attention to the UK scene Thanks for that, Ross
  7. Just wondering if anyone recognises this truck and knows how I can get a hold of the owner? Nowt serious, just wanting to ask him some questions about it... Cheers, Ross
  8. So which of the 2 Roll Cage manufacturers that have recently bombarded us with phone calls do you work for then? Publicly (and incorrectly) discrediting your rival's product is not the way to achieve sales in my opinion.... If I am mistaken about your identity, then I humbly apologise. Either way, you're talking rubbish Ross
  9. I use a southdown rear tank guard for my rear winch mount and I'm very pleased with it. I just got a mounting platform for the winch fab'd to the top of the mount and created a letterbox in the crossmember for the rope to pass through. Minimum of chassis altering work, winch is nicely out of the way (with a hatch in the rear floor to gain access to it) and I still have full towing functionality. HTH Ross
  10. If you use a poly bag or such like to make an airtight seal around the snorkel then the engine should stall out if the intake system is correctly sealed throughout. HTH Ross
  11. forum noun 1. a public meeting or assembly for open discussion 2. a public facility to meet for open discussion WordNet® 3.0, © 2006 by Princeton University. Bore off..... Ross
  12. Gemm 4x4 every time for me. George and Bobby are both superb, utterly trustworthy and very competitively priced. I know Larbert isn't Perth, but its just a quick blast down the A93/A9. HTH, Ross
  13. All but the very earliest were made by Mantec. As has been said, they are a commercially available item, so they should fit any 90/110. They are fitted as standard with Jate rings so should fit around them no problems. If you need any help/measurements/pics, give me a shout, I'm sure I can find a Wolf lying around somewhere Ross
  14. Quality video!! Where is this lane and what's the soundtrack to the vid??? Ross
  15. Kinda like this then.... Taken from the Devon 4x4 110 Trayback build thread HTH, Ross
  16. I'll be there, trying to sell the last of my surplus items and (as always) on the look out for some bits and pieces... Ross
  17. I assume this is you Wayne?!I completely agree with what you have said and would love to know with what authority 'rohtron' speaks and exactly how he knows what material the AFRT cages are made from. For what its worth, I (speaking personally, not on behalf of the AFRT) would fully endorse Whitbread cages and thats why I have one on my own personal 90. Regards, Ross
  18. As a member of the Armed Forces Rally Team, I've worked with Malcolm on a number of occassions - all I can say is that his work and attention to detail is superb. We've had a number of heavy high speed rolls and his cages have stood the test of time - plus if they are good enough for the WRC Scrutineers at Wales Rally GB, they should be good enough for most people!! Regards, Ross
  19. I know in Scotland they use Morris Leslie Plant Auctions at Errol, Perth. Have you tried the Defender Centre? HTH Ross
