  1. I had a t4 Syncro with the 2.3 litre N/A diesel. That was nice. Was written off when a corsa hit me head on. When I say written off, I still see it being driven around the north east. It still has a dint in the wing and has had one new wheel and a new grill. The new wheel is easy to spot as 3 are red an there is one silver. Found a pick of it.
  2. The part number is LR008217 for the whole kit but I want just the dash bracket with the standard ball mount.
  3. How about returning it to your nearest dealer? Is it not still under warranty?
  4. I find them undergeared for on road work and over geared for off-road. I wouldn't want to do long distance in them. No worse than a defender though.. We have quite a few at work, they are a pain when they go wrong but not as bad as trying to get parts for a transit county.
  5. Absolutely fantastic. I can't believe the builders buckled under the pressure from this forum and put a nice bend on that pipe!
  6. Stumbling through google I came across this site: http://www.exploz.com.au I was actually looking for Cubby box fitting instructions. One of their products is similar to one I found on a german site a few months back but seems better again. Has anyone any experience of their stuff? All seems to be based on really sound ideas.
  7. How to you make the power steering reservoir levitate like that?;-) Is is an Allisport one? Anyone know if that would fit a TD5, looks the same.
  8. I would never buy an Ex-Utility Land Rover. Gone are the days of maintaining for maintaining sake. These days all utilities are businesses like all others and treat vehicles as an expense/tool. When it comes to disposing of them an over maintained vehicle will fetch the same as any other in an auction house. Add that to the harsher environment that most have to work in your getting something that has had a hard life. There are a few exceptions. Some companies will have vehicles that have hardly moved from site. Look for VERY low mileages. Apart from some heavy towing these will be good. All of the BT 90's I have seen are good. Avoid anything with chequerplate or a winch
  9. Some of the Yale high security shrouded locks have the shackle retained on one side by a scroll pin which can be knocked out. Abus do some where the shackle is not retained
  10. Inboard brakes on a Land Rover. That's going to be a whole world of pain when a halfshaft fails!
  11. Thanks for your post Shep. I have worked out that if I use spacers on them (as I will be on the 90 too) I should be able to clear them easily. Your trailer does look very nice indeed!
  12. TD5 is lighter. Only thing it's not good for is fitting a spare wheel as there is less webbing
  13. Yes it can be removed/disabled in the ECU. You are best speaking to IRB, Bell or the like.
  14. With hard driving it's normal but not when driving stready. Are you double declutching or over reving whilst in neutral? I can get continuous black smoke out of mine if giving it beans but under normal conditions I get none. My mods are the same (intercooler/re-map) but not by Allisport.
  15. Actually, I suppose when you take into account the tent is included, you are down to £2000 for the box. I think I would still rather make my own, but it seems like a good option.
  16. Seen the MyWay one. No way I am paying that kind of money. Their price on Ebay is a bit better but it's a lot of money for a box!
  17. Been thinking for some time about building a camping trailer based on a Disk braked wide track Sankey. Seems relatively straight forward but the deeper I look into it the more limited my designs become based on the limitations of the original footprint of the bed. Looking at the design of most of the South African trailers the have much longer aframes and the axles are much further back. I suppose this aids articulation and increases space but will make the nose weight higher and increase the likelyhood of grounding. I am keen to use a Nato hitch. Should I get a Sankey, build a box and see how it goes, possibly extending the A-frame in the future or start from scratch and build a new chassis which is closer to my requirements and use indespension units. Can Alloy wheels be fitted to Sankey's? I have noticed some difference in the hub design. Will a freestyle for example fit?
  18. Nic, have you a link to a source for those rear lamps? They would be perfect for my trailer project!
  19. Don't the NAS ones have a trim to cover that and mount the light??
  20. Had the same for about 1000 miles. Stooped now. Just give them some time to bed in.
  21. I believe the injector codes are different so unless it is properly remapped a later ECU won't work properly. I recommend you speak with Ian at IRB.
  22. Did you try to do it with the engine/manifold cold. Getting it really hot really helps. A trick learnt from Porny As for getting them out now I would advise drilling them out an re-tapping but you will never get to them with the manifold still fitted to the car.
  23. I know of nothing that exists but can see no reason it couldn't be made. Like the Lara Croft film defender but with a full tilt.
