  1. I suppose then it would be very tricky to renew your VED if it expires as there will be no way of getting an MOT outside of the country either. An you would need an MOT if getting a 300tdi!
  2. I would take it as far off road as possible to make sure nobody saw me
  3. Make sure you get a genuine MAF, some of the replacements on ebay give dodgy figures
  4. EGT are related to the combustion of the fuel not the temperature of the inlet air. Intercoolers allow cooler, denser air to the engine giving more oxygen by volume so the engine can burn more fuel and give more power. This will lead to higher EGT.
  5. The MAF tells the ECU how much air is being put into the engine, without it how would it know how much fuel to use. The EGR has nothing directly to do with this as the recirculated air entered the plenum after the MAF
  6. No and SVA can mean you are issued a new plate if all but 2 major components are new, an age related plate based on that of the single donor or a Q if the origin of some of the components is unknown or from multiple vehicles.
  7. I was under the impression that the the ECU goes into Limp Home mode when it senses over pressure but I am not sure at what pressure that is. It could be the standard 14.5-15psi but 18psi also rings a bell. You could be lucky setting it at that.
  8. Does anyone know if the handle and mechanism from a pre-2002 door fits the 2002 one. Trying to work out the minimum require parts list to fit one. i.e. door - BIC710250 or BIC710210 or BIC710220 or BIC710230 glass - CQB000140 or CQB000150 or CQB000270 seal -CVW500010.
  9. I don't understand your numbers for boost? WHen you say 190 do you mean 19psi? decipounds per square inch perhaps?
  10. The "boost box" does not control the boost itself. All TD5 are controlled by the actuator mechanically. The pressure sensor sends between 0 and 5v to the ECU up to the maximum boost. All the box does it limit the potential difference to 5v to ensure the ECU does not know you have exceed the maximum perimeter.
  11. It depends on your skillset but I would prefer to fit the drivechain to an existing camper as you suggest. My old Syncro van is now registered as a camper with the DVLA it seems. The t4 doesn't have the ground clearance the sprinter has but usually Syncros kitted out for off road (proper) will just use a load of under body protection and slide across everything. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cu9-rztv--4&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cu9-rztv--4&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cu9-rztv--4&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
  12. Looking for one in Epsom green if anyone knows of a complete furnished 2002MY rear door.
  13. I have always fancied an Ibex. Since long before I could afford one. I am seriously thinking about shelving my Chassis replacement plans on my 90 and just building one of those.
  14. This one? One of the mags did a test drive in it a few years back but I can't find it. That might have the detail you are looking for? I toyed with the idea of building a replica myself. The hardest thing to get rigt would be the underbody protection and wheels
  15. Very well, Thanks for the replies all, I have a bit ore of a clue now!
  16. Thinking about either a Richards or a P&P tubular Chassis.
  17. Thinking about the possibility of taking a written off Disco 2 and building a Defender from it. The plan would be to take a TD5 auto disco and use the engine, gearbox axles and suspension and put them onto a new Galv chassis and bulkhead. It would likely be built as a truck cab with challenge wings and a trayback so apart from a few bits and peices the car would be be mainly new or disco, hopefully meaning the car would take the donor reg after SVA. Is the suspension suitable to mount straight to a Defender Chassis? (with standard defender springs)
  18. This doesn't happen often! Something Western doesn't know! http://www.ashtreelandrover.com/Ordering_Two.html
  19. Dead easy, load of guides on the internet n how to change. 2 hours max and less than £60 in parts/gaskets
  20. Here's a thought. With twin fans why not switch one one with the temp of the coolant leaving the engine and the second on as a boost if the coolant leaving the rad is still too hot?
  21. To be honest I don't remember. At the time I never worked it out in MPG. I drove than and a Mini, I knew how far I could get on an amount of money in that and I had an overdrive card for the van so didn't pay any attention to it the fuel cost. I don't remember having to stop too regularly and the tank can't have been huge (no room!)
