  1. which side/area of Birmingham? the police could be of help as they have their new shiny roadtax reading cameras plastered about, should get a ping. I'll keep my eyes peeled.

  2. the piece on the end of mine was cut off on the front shocks as like some people have commented there isn't enough room below the pin. I found you had to use an 8mm open ended spanner on the end whilst tightening the nut above a bit at a time, only to find you can't get the ring spanner off. If you try with the open end there is barely enough room to turn the nut to get the next flat.

On my second set of es9000's I cut the pin after the last thread, you can hold/turn the body of the shock with a pipe wrench for doing and undoing, as the 8mm thingy is useless anyway once the shocks have been on 3-4 years.

  3. does it go off after 2 minutes? i.e after becm has gone to sleep? if not there is a socketed relay you can pull by the passenger seat rail, but to confirm a grown up will be along shortly.

I'm guessing the root of the problem is more involved such as a faulty compressor diaphram seal or a faulty overpressure switch on the eas block.

  4. To be fair Pete social media does have it's uses, this is a great example of what twitter is useful for http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2015/01/06/toilet-paper-delivery-twitter_n_6423760.html

    ;)

Running out of scrape is just bad planning,, but amusing. However demonstrates the same level of intelligence as folks who go off walking in the mountains in jeans and trainers using just a smart phone for map, gps, compass ,torch & phone. Then somehow manage to have just enough battery to phone the MRT and ask if they could come and get us please, as we are lost (Muppets). It would be interesting to link the number of call-outs year on year with smartphone sales.

On a side note the virgin train toilets have an amusing feature, where the close door button isn't a lock button (you need the lock button for that), some people think it has locked until someone else comes to use the facilities.

  5. as above unless you know what you are doing, then replacement panels painted are the way to go, unless you don't mind that been through a hedge look.

To reshape aluminum is difficult as it needs careful heating once stretched. then body filler and a repaint. As some on says you could use various tools. couple of G clamps and some angle may straighten the side up reasonably. The roof though I'd avoid anything too pointy as you may end up with more ripples/dents. If you can get the roof off tip it upside down and put some thick underlay or rugs under it you could try putting some weight on the damage with your trainers on then finish up the corner with a rubber/wooden mallet and some straight pieces of wood.

  6. the folks over at emlra may offer an insight. Pictures may help for a guess of previous use. If it has the antenna wing box plates and cabling fitted it may be a 12v ffr or adapted for radio using the clip in sets with 14v chargers. the 110 soft top may have been for forward support roles, in some countries petrol is easier to get hold of thn diesel. Indeed the v8 was able to be used on many grades of petrol in third world countries. The data plate should be on the seatbox to give more clues to reg etc.

  7. Who or what is V.G.S in Oldbury? Google finds nothing that appears relevant.

    Thanks.

in bottom of listing ispickup from Oldbury, I looked and couldn't find anything in google except VGC vehicle glass company, so they may be registered in Sutton Coldfield with a warehouse/outlet in Oldbury?

    edit got it.

  8. or if you wanted a drive across the M6 you can pick one up from Oldbury, £99 listed on the bay from V.G.S ? seems they do seals as well.

edit just noticed you wanted a series split screen not a defender, sorry........ might be worth asking though if they do series glass.

  9. if it isn't too late i managed to dig mine out today.

    4way white plug.

    black=gnd 0v

    fused red=+12v battery (perm)

    fused orange=+12v ign

    10 way white plug

green = line + (not used)

brown = line - (not used)

red, blue, white, yellow&black go to molded mute box.

other end multiplug goes to lcd head.

then you should have two grey iso and two black iso (1m 1f)

black is speaker pass through male to female via mute box

the grey has male connector to plug into radio

    white is mute1

    yellow is mute 2

    blue is mute 3

you join one of these to the yellow lead on the mute box depending on head unit mute pin.

  10. mine hasn't got the red box, for sure, there is a moulded black lump as well as the blue box. Maybe the red box is a can gateway adapter depending on the age of the merc. Newer german cars have the radio and phone functions switched via can. You should be able to use the manual diagram to get rid of it.

  11. not sure about the red box, I have a ck3100 which is standard bluetooth, they did a gps version? you need to provide a +12v perm live and a switched live (when ign is on).

The display cable can come out in the head which is only a push in plug once the 2 screws are out. Mine has an audio mute box which mutes the radio and pipes the call to the car speakers, which was part of the kit. You can still get the firmware from parrott you need a bluetooth dongle to upload it from memory.

  12. Can't find anything useful as I type, however you could ring mm4x4 at martin hussingtree. and ask them to send on across to you if you are stopping out there for a bit.

    +44 (0)1905 451506 till 17:30 might just catch them

Is is seized or is the diodepack gone? you might be better taking the belt off if it's seized and rigging something to run the waterpump. I had a bearing collapse in Rhyader one Sun and drove my 2.5nad back to mids with just the battery. careful use of battery on the diesel means you only really need to keep the stop solenoid open. Everyhting else is a load. I.e no big loads like lights/wipers/heater motor. You could cover a fair few miles if you can charge the battery up over night and drive in the day.

  13. try either speaker out on low volume or if it's overdriven, use a phono subwoofer out if your new deck has one. otherwise have a look at the converters in my link. You may need something to reduce the speaker level down to 1.5v or so and act as a low pass filter.

    low pass filter http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fixapart-Subwoofer-crossover-/281526009997?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item418c42008d

You would still need low level inputs to this though, not speaker level.

  14. Looking at the diagram, you are probably only interested in the radio end? c2030 B=ground ry= audio signal probably low pass filtered for sub frequencies. Can either be low level phono type signal or speaker level output. depends on how clarion do it. Usually only bother with one sub out either left or combo of left and right mixed together.

Guessing E6.5 / c213 is the remote power which switches the amp on when the radio is on. via the lead that says remote antenna or similar (blue) check with multimeter!

Anything B is black or ground, except the speaker connectors, which must not be grounded, as the amps work pos and neg around the supply.

LGO C412 is the perm fused +12v feed to the subwoofer, the purple and yellow (E6-5 knocks it off when you don't have radio on.)

    OR have alook at these
