  1. i've put one of these in my skuttle panel : G
  2. thankfully not.... but we've had a few agency hands come on board, who've previously worked on rigs which have since been stacked.... not good G
  3. that makes our engine room look dinky we have 5 big cat's with gennys, but nothing like the size you guys use.... we had a blackout one night whilst being towed, due to a simple mistake the motorman made (forgot to open a valve which changed from sea water cooling (which is used when stationary) to tank water cooling (which is used whilst moving))..... burst a 12" line, water everywhere, welders running around overheating emergency generators welding up new pipework ... all fun ! the motorman left the rig pretty soon afterwards G
  4. Slightly OT: but can someone point me in the direction of a current set of rules & regs. Do vehicles have to be legal (lights, mot etc?) G
  5. there's another thousand miles left in that
  6. Sorry should have added that to the post... we ran out of time to get some roundbar on. G
  7. Thanks to David @ Llama who made me up some hoses to go onto my rear callipers Well out of the way compared to standard. Fiddled Gordon
  8. i was on the entry list but my winches didn't fancy competing .... i've been on the phone this morning, and i was supplied a spool bank with the wrong valves inside (it meant my winches had no brake as such) there's always next time ! G
  9. Was a good location Tiring to walk around !!! Below are some pictures, apologies for the dodgy phone quality : oops after this photo : SS : Gordon
  10. Cheers for the replies. It's ok now, think it was a blockage in the line which we cleaned out. G
  11. forgot to add.... jacked the wheel off the floor. cheers pongo - is the diff ok to use in it's current locked position or will i bugger more up ?
  12. Morning, Last night whilst moving my landy around, i noticed that the rear locker was staying in the locked position. I'd been testing suspension up and down a big ramp but since then it doesn't want to go back to normal. I haven't taken the diff out, so not really checked anything yet...But can anyone possibly shed some light on this ? Cheers Gordon
  13. 88" trayback, with a v8 on carb's so i'll be staying out of water this week i need to panel off my front wings, sort out all my hydraulics (winches are currently just bolted on with no pipes, ropes etc) and a load of other small bits n bobs. was out yesterday testing the engine to see if it got hot with the rad in the back. Gordon
  14. your truck is cooling too much :D i'm jealous. i've got a fair bit to do for my first event (so go easy on me LOL) Gordon
  15. cheers....now to get our storeman to find a supplier to get some off! don't worry about the price LOL when you see some of the basic stuff we buy which cost stupid amounts just because it's for "offshore use" ! G
  16. Gents, At work we used to have quite a few 1" allen keys, which have slowly been cut down to short stumpy's and welded into bolts in order to remove them. Thus we're running out quickly ! I've been looking with our storeman, but none of the companies we deal with seem to stock them ? Can find 24mm and 22mm from Gedore and Proto don't have any other big ones. Ideally i'd like a source for lengths of Hex bar, which we can then cut to length for use with impact drivers / welding in. The main use for them is to bolting two pump parts together with 8 bolts and then tighten to 1,800 lb.ft then left for years being heated, cooled, wet, dry...rusting away - then management wonder why we break tools stripping them LOL Price is not an issue. Cheers Gordon
  17. Yes, i've found a splice spool bank with relief valve. Can you point me in the right direction on which overcentre valve to choose from this page : http://www.flowfitonline.com/acatalog/OVERCENTRE_VALVES.html Thanks again Gordon Edit : Not too worry, Allan Byrne has them for £39 + vat. So i'll get one of them.
  18. Thanks for the replies above. I've got a single line overcentre valve, but got 2 winches hence me asking what type i needed. So another single will do me fine for the other winch ? The winches were previously run off a 12v solenoid setup, but i'm changing to a 2 lever spool bank. Thanks Gordon
  19. Hi, As per title really.... I've got a pair of milemarker type r's and i'm wondering if someone can advise me on which overcentre valves i need ? And where to get some ? All my piping and connections are 1/2" bsp. What is the difference between single / dual ? Thanks Gordon
  20. I'd like to compete on the Sunday So will sort out my membership sometime. Gordon
  21. There is a very good write up i found on www.Pirate4x4.com . Sorry, but this internet connection is too slow to give you a link, but well worth looking on there (in the technical section i think it was). G
  22. Just out of interest, how much rope can you fit on the milemarker, an what size? 11mm / 12mm. I know some of the milemarkers have a slightly bigger diameter drum. Cheers Gordon

  24. at work we use North glasses, just cheappy ones but they're ok... clean then regularly with antifog stuff and seem ok when working in hot / fumey places. the most comfy pair i've used were a set of steel framed peltor's G
  25. A friend by chance spotted this last night in stockport chained to a lamppost, so he called the police who eventually turned up... and after spending a while explaining / proving that is was mine he took it back home and locked it up inside the superwinch is gone, but that's not the end of the world G
