Mo Murphy
Your coolant level is low or you have an air lock preventing full circulation. Mo
Chambo110
Think it’s sorted Mo. Pretty sure it’s the gauge that’s faulty. I did drain it all and re fill. cold air through heaters was an embarrassing mistake. I had both switches (temp and direction) push upwards. “Cold” 😂 ... in my defence I hadn’t stuck the new sticker onto my raptor binnacle so was going by memory As always I appreciate all input. It’s because of the knowledge of members/owners, a vast majority of the time on this site that we are able to keep these great vehicles running . well done all 👍🍺🍺

western
I use Halfords own branded blue glycol stuff, you can get it ready mixed in 5 litres https://www.halfords.com/motoring/engine-oils-and-fluids/antifreeze/hal-silicate-antifreeze-rm-5l-600423.html

western
a litre of nice clean boiled water that's cooled down won't dilute it much more,

western
when its up & running nicely heated up on a drive you should be looking at a full warmed working temp between 88 to 95 degrees, the thermostat is a 88 degree one. around 88 if the temp gauge is a good match you should see the stat open at 88 & the temp will go up a bit,
Chambo110
Ralph do I need to use the temp sensor supplied with new gauge or can I use what’s there already ?? assuming I can as it’s just a signal ?? Thanks
western
Best to use the matched sender that came with the gauge, then you know it will read correct.
Chambo110
Makes sense 1/8 npt was supplied.. how lucky am i ?? Is it a straight swap ??
western
Not a straight swap, the Defender spec 200tdi temp sender is 5/8 unf thread,

western
That would work, I may have one in my garage don't click buy it now just yet PM your post address & I'll send this item but without the attached sender, I had the 300tdi green sender to drive my old temp gauge, then I swapped it out for the VDO temp gauge sender as in my photo's above. western
Nothing else needed, screw sender into adaptor, then the sub assembly into the thermostat housing.

Chambo110
I’ve seen it somewhere.. I like the look of the sandwich plates. Gonna need help with sizes though. ive got a temp and pressure gauge but also wanna keep light on dash so do I need 3 outlets plate ?
western
Don't know about sandwich plate for a 200tdi, its not needed as all the ports are on the filter head. my diagram in this thread
Chambo110
I’ve seen that thread before but couldn’t find it again cracking info 👍 so I’m assuming my filter head has the sender for the bulb in dash? What’s that look for ? Is it low level light ?
