One Head Light

Recommended Posts

Hello all

With the coming months its become much darker in the mornings down here in the Falkland islands and i often use my head lights going to work in the morning

but I switch them on this morning and one comes on at normal brightness while the other is much dimmer

is it just the bulb going? What's happening?

Cheers Tom

Absolutely as Western says. It was this nonsense repeatedly happening as well as the indicators not behaving that led me to run a 30amp earth cable to each corner of my 110 that go straight to the negative battery terminal. No more weird earthing problems

Would recommend this. Dedicated wiring (feeds and earths) for the headlamps off individual relays. Bit of an effort but reduces any future earthing comedy.

Worth noting the headlights are also fused individually so one dodgy fuse / bad fuse holder can also be to blame - the old glass fuses are generally awful.

Indeed. My old fuse box was so bad (badly wired, badly modified, badly aged) that some fuses would simply drop out of place if going over bumps with a degree of enthusiasm
