Snagger
Hi folks. I am looking for leads on the propelled or powered trailers for the 101 for an Emirati contact. They would arrange shipping. If anyone has any leads on any such trailer that may be available for sale, please let me know.
Gazzar
I've a few names of people who might know people? No definite leads.
Snagger
If you could ask them if they have leads or are willing to speak to this guy, then that is at least a start. 🙂
Gazzar
Done.
Gazzar
Okay, from a guy who has one: Ten made. Only six or so in existence, all known to be in museums. Dunsfold bought his.
Snagger
This chap was asking if I had any contacts at Dunsfold (nope). I think it is going to be extremely difficult to find one. Well, if anyone hears anything…
landroversforever
Given the tiny number that were made, it doesn't look hopeful!
FridgeFreezer
If they've got money it's always possible to just make a new one if you really want.
Snagger
I think a replica might end up the only viable way. Still, he has patience and I suspect a reasonable budget, but he did refuse one offered for silly money.
Gazzar
There's an unpowered rapier trailer on eBay. That might be a start point, I don't know if Rubery Owen made them. The seller is an experienced 101 owner.
Nonimouse
Nick, I know the folk round where you live now tried at least one of the trailers out. Why not speak to Streaky and ask him if Hamad knows anything... The other person would be Tom Sheppard, as they were going to use powered trailers on the East- West Sahara Trip. Then found out how awful they were. He may be 90 odd now, but Tom is still very much all there I think his number is on here http://www.desertwinds.co.uk/ Finally, the guy who founded Cobaton Combat Museum had one. He's dead, but his sons run the place. He brought it up to a Christmas fun trial at Minehead Woodlands back in the 80's, on the back of an AG Rover

Nonimouse
I think I may have found a Scottern Bushmaster with a live axle - just waiting on a text 3
FridgeFreezer
https://www.theautopian.com/british-engineers-designed-a-trailer-that-could-tow-itself-over-50-years-ago/ Clearly someone at The Autopian has been lurking here - not a bad article for a mainstream US-based car website!
