Rear left ABS sensor - HELP needed

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I have a 2003 D2 TD5. Basically everything is standard (height, suspension, etc.).

I have the famous 3 amigos on and have had the car tested. Diagnostic is saying it is rear left ABS sensor. I’ve changed this but the fault still comes up. Changed the wheel bearing with a new one, still the same. Changed wheel bearing with a second hand (which was good) but still the same. I then changed the main wire to run directly to from the sensor to the box in the dash, this worked for a while then fault came back. Tried another new Britpart sensor, this worked for roughly 1 week and the fault came back.

Has anyone had this issue before? Going a little insane here 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Check the terminals where the sensor wires plug into the ECU or sub harness, where you connected the new wiring - if the new wiring briefly made a difference, I suspect the action of unplugging and reconnecting that junction is what made the difference.

I'll hazard a guess that the problem is here.

While you'd hope a Britpart sensor would survive longer than a week, it would not be outside their normal range of performance in my experience

Unfortunately purchasing a new item but it doesn’t work shortly after happens to most of us,  but two of the same item something is iffy.
Britpart’s  are only a part supplier they don’t manufacture, also they can give you the option LR genuine parts, OEM, and patten which its the cheapest but they do give a warranty on what they sell.

If you replacing a part and don’t want to go there again choose genuine or at least a branded OEM part.
