Stand alone Engine ECU ?

Recommended Posts

I seem to remember reading about a company / companies who make a "stand alone" ECU for the Td5 in a Discovety II.

A friend is preparing for a long trip and would like to do away with the comms needed between the Immobilizer, BCU and EMS to keep the vehicle going.

Anybody knows who they are ?

The Defender TD5 does have an alarm module that incorporates an immobiliser, I don't think they can be run stand alone.

I posted a link some time ago to a company that offers a bypass for several Land Rover vehicles/ engines:

No personal experience though.

My understanding is this cannot be done with the typical user diagnostics like Nanocom or Hawkeye, but only with proper reprogramming equipment. But glad to be proven wrong. 🙂
