Rustyrangie
Hi again all, another silly question. My fuel tank has a 2mm plate which covers the whole bottom surface and is held via the tank fixing bolts. It has a LR sticker on the underside. Is it a guard or just the fixing method please? Told you it was a silly question. Bob
LS26
Hi again all, another silly question. My fuel tank has a 2mm plate which covers the whole bottom surface and is held via the tank fixing bolts. Mine is a '90 RRC with a steel tank and nothing other than the tow-ball supports to protect it. I guess yours must be some kind of a guard although equally I would guess that at 2mm it might stop the tank being punctured, but certainly would not stop it getting dented. When you see a Range Rover go off some kind of a step and drop onto that overhang it don't arf make you wince! I will be looking to add some rather more substantial guarding once I get mine back on the road, something like this perhaps? Rog
Lewis
What you've got is the standard steel pressing that is fitted with a plastic tank, its better than nothing but dont be expecting it to save the tank like an aftermarket one would Lewis
V8RRC
When I put a new steel tank on my 1989 RRC I was asked if I wanted a new tank cradle with it which I did as mine was erm rotting away! The cradle is 2mm thick & fixes on useing the tank fixings so I assume this is what you are refering to
Rustyrangie
Thanks guys, it looks like it's a tank cradle. Couldn't see one mentioned in the parts CD so wondered if it was an extra. I won't be doing any serious off-roading, so it's OK to stay. Once again this forum has turned up trumps. Thanks again, Bob
FridgeFreezer
Both mine & my dad's RR have those and both are on steel tanks. I wouldn't say it's much of a guard, may stop the tank being punctured by a sharp thing / being dragged along the ground a bit but you wouldn't want to put it to the test too often! Orange
No experience, but I rather like them! They do, however seem to be awfully 'similar' to other equipment, like the Southdown tank guard and the Scorpion bumper!! A damn site cheaper though!!
