Mark
I prepaation for the Shires Seven Sisters weekend, I have been thining about My Sat Nave... Currently Running Memory Map on my iPaq which works very well... where the roads are mapped. Miketomcat showed me what I think was oziexplorer using a combination of scanned OS map and aerial photos but can I do that with MM? I think possibly not. Can I run Ozi on a iPaq? if so does anyone have the scanned maps/photos that I need to sue with it? Any help appreciated... ta Mark

Memory-Map have full UK OS mapping available at various scales as well as aerial photography maps too. You'd have to scan and calibrate the maps yourself though.
Mark
Meant to say that I am using MM2004 - since I have the entire UK on 1:50k but am too cheap to upgrade... does that version accept aerial photographs? Will have to investigate Ozi a bit deeper though...
Mark90
Yes you can use arial photos with MM2004. For a site like 7S the arial photo's are great as they show up many more tracks and features than are on the OS maps.

If you buy a new map set then they will come with the later application anyway?
landrover598
Yes you can use arial photos with MM2004. How do you do this then Mark ? Not that i'll need it much
GBMUD
Mark I have OS 1:50k maps, 1:25k maps and aerial photos for the site. I also have Ozi for PC and PDA. I will be seeing you at the weekend I expect. ;) You have my number... Chris
Mark90
How do you do this then Mark ? Not that i'll need it much You need the MM aerial photos Or you could calibrate any aerial photo to use in Ozi, especially if you had one that was higher res than the MM ones
landrover598
I don't have the MM photos or Ozi (what ever that is ) so it looks like i'll have to use the inbuilt GPS
Mark90
Ozi = OziExplorer, can be installed on PC or laptop and can use bitmap images (ie jpegs) as maps once you calibrate them with a few know positions. But you don't really need anything for 7S anyway
Orange
In this day and age of all this technology, is it wrong of me to use a slightly primitive "oooh, there's some mud, lets drive through it" navigation system???
FridgeFreezer
Worked for me last time, although I spent half the day trying to locate Petal - there's not many sites you can lose something so big and so yellow!
najw
I have a high res aerial photo of the site if anyone wants a copy. Its A3 at 200 dpi I think, 25cm resolution Not had much at calibrating it for MM though, did it off six points and it was still about 250m out! Yes please I've not tried calibration in MM, but its easy enough in Ozi-explorer. If I can get it calibrated, I can make the calibration available too. andrew AT marshallsay dot com
