Wiring question

Recommended Posts

Right on my roof rack I have 4 rather nice spotlights.

The two outer lamps are Drving lamps (55w Halogen)

The two ineer lamps are Fogs (55w Halogen)

I want to be able to do the following combinations

Outer on

Inner on

Outer & Inner on

Outer on with Full Beam

Outer & Inner on with Full Beam

Help! Wiring makes my head hurt

It sounds like you need 2 x 3-way switches. 1 for the 2 inner lights and 1 for the two outer lights.

Position 1 - Off

Position 2 - On with flash / main beam

Position 3 - On

Without thinking about it too much I think you would need a relay switched by your main beam circuit to drive the actual relay for the lights when in position 2. Position 3 is a straight forward connection to the relay and position 1 is even easier - off!

I would seek clarification on this though as it's been a long week!

Mark90 has drawn what i'd draw.

I think you can get Carling switches in on/off/on, i've got a standard toggle switch in that configuration that was a couple of quid.

See samwilk200 for carling switches he got me a variety of them at a good price
