I live in Warminster. Been here 6 months now and only just finding my feet as to spares and tool shops locally. Most of the spares places are up Swindon way. Just drop me a line when you land here and we can meet up for some lanes.

when i was in Tidworth, i used Ottons near sailsbury, but there was a guy in tidworth that had a garage called `Plainrover` not sure if he is still going, the guys name is Nic, he is a big fella. the garage was by the Ram pub on the Ludgershall road.

I was in Tidworth 18 months and didn't realise he was there till the other day, still don't know exactly what he does.

Place in Shrewton F &B Landrovers. What a waste of space. Been there a couple of times to get bits. They take your order and "will call you" when it comes in. 3 months later and a couple of calls I'm still waiting :o

Big Nic is as dodgey as they come, but what he doesnt know about Landrovers is not worth doing. he is a very nice chap.

he used to have a NAS 90 copy,

thats him... if you drive out of Tidworth towards Swindon, the very last house on the LH side (where the byway crosses the road) is his. you can tell as there's usually about 6 LR prducts on his garden!

that NAS was a metallic red colour wasn;'t it? had a BMW engnine in it last time i saw it.

Thanks all - gives me somewhere to start looking.

Also I've heard that there's a place called somthing like West Wilts Landrovers in Market Lavington & another place in Shrewton - anything known about either of these ?

Ah. I was not even aware of the place in Market Lavington. I might take cruise by later and see what is there.

I live just down the road from a place in Trowbridge, WJ Joyce Landrovers. I have only used their spares dept. and always feel that I am getting in the way of the business and am not welcome. I also have an issue with the quality of the parts supplied - and on that basis would be wary of getting work done there.

OK, I do still lurk, even if I have sold my LR and turned over to the dark side that is speed :P:banned:

In contrast to Chris, I can't recomend WJ Joyce in Trowbridge enough, speak to Adrian and get past the slightly cold shoulder and discover a guy who knows more about LR's than there is to know........if you can handle the 'attitiude' as it is (never had a problem myself) it is an excellent place to take your LR.

There is an odd day living here in darkest Wiltshire when I miss my LR, and hanker after another.....maybe one day when I have a lot more time than now :(

  • 3 years later...

The place in Shrewton closed more than a year ago. That's if it's the one I think. On the left if heading west into village going down the hill.

Anything I can't be bothered to do myself I pass on to a guy in Shaw just outside Melksham. He has a small workshop and only deals in cash so costs tend to be quite reasonable. Will PM details if needed.

I do hope you're right about the place in Shaw, ludylandy! My beloved X-Reg Defender 90's in there at the moment having a knackered half-shaft fixed. Have to say, the guys there really did seem to know what they were talking about, which is why I was happy to leave it with them.

Just wanted to follow up on that. Couple of days later and the guys at Church Farm in Shaw have done an absolutely first-class job of not only fixing my car but also ensuring my future custom. Quick friendly service, they seem to really know what they're doing, and although they're probably not the cheapest around I certainly didn't feel ripped off. Top marks all round! Good fun nosing around the yard there at the numerous "classics" in various states of repair as well.

Slightly off topic but this thread has given me an idea.

How about a section on this site for recommended garages/repairs in each part of the country? I'm sure lots of people would find it useful, would also be good to know of the places to avoid!
