Raggylad
Moving to Warminster in a couple of months. Any recommends for garages/workshops that understand older Landrovers (eg: my '83 110 V8) in the West Wilts/East Somerset area ? Also, any LPG specialists ? Thanks
Guest WALFY
I live in Warminster. Been here 6 months now and only just finding my feet as to spares and tool shops locally. Most of the spares places are up Swindon way. Just drop me a line when you land here and we can meet up for some lanes.

Russ Russ I was in Tidworth 18 months and didn't realise he was there till the other day, still don't know exactly what he does. Place in Shrewton F &B Landrovers. What a waste of space. Been there a couple of times to get bits. They take your order and "will call you" when it comes in. 3 months later and a couple of calls I'm still waiting

GBMUD
Ah. I was not even aware of the place in Market Lavington. I might take cruise by later and see what is there. I live just down the road from a place in Trowbridge, WJ Joyce Landrovers. I have only used their spares dept. and always feel that I am getting in the way of the business and am not welcome. I also have an issue with the quality of the parts supplied - and on that basis would be wary of getting work done there. Chris

Chris OK, I do still lurk, even if I have sold my LR and turned over to the dark side that is speed In contrast to Chris, I can't recomend WJ Joyce in Trowbridge enough, speak to Adrian and get past the slightly cold shoulder and discover a guy who knows more about LR's than there is to know........if you can handle the 'attitiude' as it is (never had a problem myself) it is an excellent place to take your LR. There is an odd day living here in darkest Wiltshire when I miss my LR, and hanker after another.....maybe one day when I have a lot more time than now
DrRob
Is this place still going? West Wilts LR What other places are there around "The Plain"? Ta
Landy'd Gentry
Sadly, the chap who had a garage in Tidworth has moved, don't know to where, but no longer opposite 'The Ram' pub. I know it's a wee drive, but David at Safari Engineering at Eversleigh is absolutly brilliant. Well worth the drive. HTH
ludylandy
The place in Shrewton closed more than a year ago. That's if it's the one I think. On the left if heading west into village going down the hill. Anything I can't be bothered to do myself I pass on to a guy in Shaw just outside Melksham. He has a small workshop and only deals in cash so costs tend to be quite reasonable. Will PM details if needed.

My beloved X-Reg Defender 90's in there at the moment having a knackered half-shaft fixed. Have to say, the guys there really did seem to know what they were talking about, which is why I was happy to leave it with them.
ptolemyphil
Just wanted to follow up on that. Couple of days later and the guys at Church Farm in Shaw have done an absolutely first-class job of not only fixing my car but also ensuring my future custom. Quick friendly service, they seem to really know what they're doing, and although they're probably not the cheapest around I certainly didn't feel ripped off. Top marks all round! Good fun nosing around the yard there at the numerous "classics" in various states of repair as well.
ludylandy
The guy that started the land rover orphanage works out of there now and yes they do know there stuff.
Spearos
Slightly off topic but this thread has given me an idea. How about a section on this site for recommended garages/repairs in each part of the country? I'm sure lots of people would find it useful, would also be good to know of the places to avoid!
