Monster
Hi All, Just part way finishing a disco 200tdi install in my ExMod 110. I decided to upgrade to powersteering at the same time (From manual box). I am struggling with the pump to steering box hose. I was planning to find and fit a disco hose but possibly could be too short. (Transplant engine had hose cut of just off pump!) The box i am using is a 4 bolt. Surely the 200tdi defender had the same setup? Does anyone know the part no: of this hose that i am looking for? I would like the extra length to allow it to follow the front crossmember and make the bay nice and tidy. What type of input fitting goes into the steering box? Does anyone have a pic that i could see? Any advice/help would be appreciated. Cheers
Puddles
just a pointer - be aware that there are different fittings used on the steering box ends of the hoses, and not all land rover hoses will fit your box. Fom memory there are metric and imperial fittings, but defender hoses should be ok.

Monster
Thanks for the info. Unfortunately i am an overseas addict and there is no specailist nearby, not even a LR shop! I am looking to order from the uk and get it shipped to me. As this is fraut with problems i need to get the exact part. What i was hoping that someone had done the same and bought new. Appreciate the pics but my powersteering pump doesnt have the banjo fitting on it. I have a pump to 3 bolt box hose that doesnt fit either the pump or my 4 bolt inlet. (Pump side is right size wrong thread, box side is too small). Due to my remoteness, i am unable to try out various hoses for thread/size unfortunately. Cheers. western
only 1 power steering pump listed for a Discovery 200Tdi engine NTC8288, can't tell from the parts page what type of connections it has. a photo of yours or a rough drawing would help us [your fellow forum mates] supply the right part numbers for the hoses. would you please put your location in your profile, just to give others a idea, it might help too. 101sean
Where are you! Can't imagine anywhere without access to hydraulics or mechanical bodgery. The hose you have sounds like imperial (3 bolt box is imperial) so won't won't fit 4 bolt box or disco/defender pump. The disco pump has different outlet to defender and I'm surprised it fits, the outlet should hit chassis rail. Only way you will buy pipe off shelf is to buy the matching Defender pump which has pump union on rear to miss the chassis, thus the hose has to be longer. You won't buy off shellf you you try to mix and match.

Sorry to disapoint you but there is no hydraulic specialist on the island! Any mechanical bodgery we do ourselves, thus a LR owner. I am uploading a few pics. It is of the pump, the pump end of the hose and the box that i am using. I have found a spare fitting that screws into the box but am not sure if this is the correct fitting. Any ideas? If this is right then I could just jubilee clip them together temporarily, but would prefer a complete hose rather than a joint being as it is the high pressure end. The hose that is fitted on the pump came with the engine but unfortunately the dismantler decided that chopping it off was easier than removing the end from the box. (It would have saved me such a headache). Cheers.
Tonk
the 3 bolt box is imperial, use a disco hose which is metric and it will fit your 4 bolt box, it may be a little short but it will fit especially if u bend it about a bit. JST
as Tonk says above, order a disco 200tdi Hp pipe this will fit your 4 bolt pump, how do i know its says ^^^ and did it yesterday. you need a disco pipe though as i believe the pumps on a 200 def and disco are different, (def hp feed from back, disco from side (as in your photo))
Tonk
disco and def pipes are different, they have different connections on the pump end.
