Graham Thomson
oh pooh got correct bulb at first garage..........and no matter what you do there isnt enough "lip" inside the brand new wipac unit to hold the bulb bayonets...and i made sure it was the correct way round..... not happy..... is there a lucas unit or are these all you can get...and has anyone else had and resolved the same problem.... :o :o
LR90
Sounds similar to the probs I had with a replacement sidelight (paddocks £2.50 cheapy). Works fine until I hit a bump and the bulb would dislodge. Tried several measures but in the end called in to the dealers and bought a genuine part (still only a £5 or less IIRC). Orgasmic Farmer
You're not the first and not the last to suffer this problem! The Bearmach units seem to be a bit better but the design means its will always be a pain...
LR90
Is the genuine part Wipac?? No that was the Paddock part IIRC. Can't recall what the genuine part was off hand as it just came in LR packaging and the makers name was hard to read off the lens. Will take another look tonight
Gromit
Sounds similar to the probs I had with a replacement sidelight (paddocks £2.50 cheapy). LR90
Not heard of them before but it seems my genuine light carries the Perei name.
western
Either Perei or LEP are best.
nicksmelly
LEP is LE Perei company ltd. and they make the original and NAS spec OE sidelights and indicators.
western
I thought LEP was Lucas Electrical Products, but it seems LucasUK is the name here.
nicksmelly
The company was founded by Leslie Edward Perei. The company traded under the name L.E.Perei Auto Devices Ltd LE Perei
western
Makes much more sense now & good to see they are a long standing UK company
Graham Thomson
OK, just arrived - nice new Britpart ones. They are complete with bulbs and appear high quality (although I've not fitted them yet). Just as well I ordered two, since the lens is a slightly deeper shade of red than the wipac ones! Graham Thomson
Ok, fitted the britpart stop lamps. They are I think a great piece of kit, really clunky solid bulb fittings. Highly recommended.
western
I guess those are the new type with the bulb holder fitting from the rear & lens/backplate in one part.

The lens removes with the normal 2 screws and the bulb fits as normal too, it just also fits really well, and the part seems really solid and of good quality.
