To fit some groovy speakers to my 89 CSW? And any known problems therein??

I'd go for on the ceiling as near your head as practical, at least you stand a chance of hearing them then

I put 2 front in the standard dash location & 2 in the rearmost corners of the headliner

Have you considered an I-POD and ear phones, it's the best quality you will ever get a Defender.

On a serious note though make sure you get the best quality you can get because the volume will be turned up high!

Beware of buying expensive speakers with a big power handling (eg 100W+) when your head unit only kicks out ~45W, they will be very quiet. I made the mistake once, changed from some very cheap 150W 6x9's (which TBH were probably only good for 75W) to some sexercisey 260W ones and couldn't hear a bluddy thing 'cos the stereo couldn't provide enough juice.

The speakers in question were in a Metro (in my defense it was my 1st car). No stereo in the 109 as you rightly point out, I don't need one

I've 2 either side of the fuse box, and 2 above the small windows, either side of the rear door.

If you can mount them up near your head though, that'd be better.

Seatbox? Do you stay away from water then? There's a reason everything electrical is attached to the ceiling of the 109

Thats the tow car fridge, my 90 has very little in the way of electrics, (being fueled by the superior jungle juice it does not require many )

I would kick that off the first time i got in after doing a night shift!!!! Bit clumsy me...

I removed the covers to the wiring over the rear lights and set some speakers into wooden panels either side of the door. This way they're not pointing at the head of the two passengers in the rear next to the door while the two next to them can't hear it as their heads are in the way, and they are perfectly audible in the front seats too. They are no more vulnerable to water than the rest of the lights in that position. It's where the latest CSWs have them.
