Martin90
Hi Guys, Originally posted this in defender forum without response.... Just been getting insurance quotes and they all seem to offer a discount for being a club member. Doesn't apear to matter which club so any suggestions? It's a 90, a toy for off roading, mainly green laning and the odd pay and play. Not into competitions or anything. I live in Manchester. So.......? Scotian
I was going to start a new thread but I think it might be quite fitting to tag this on here since its on topic. I just got out new insurance last night. I've got 3 nasty convictions (in 2004 DD40 with 12 month ban and 300 fine for speeding at 152mph) then in 2005 a BA10 and IN10 for driving while banned. I'm 28 years old with 7 years no claims and the Landrover is a 1985 90 and I'm self employed which seemed to be picked up as part time by the computers!! Here was the resopnse using confused.com. It was interesting to get more info than normal from companies who wouldnt offer a quote. Hope it is relevent to some people Insure your motor--------325 Budget---------------------485 YES------------------------486 ibuyeco-------------------486 Post Office----------------495 Auto Trader--------------495 Dial Direct---------------500 Direct Choice------------523 MQ------------------------531 Quoye.co.uk--------------577 AA-------------------------Unable to quote due to ban length AIG Direct----------------Unable to quote any part time occupation Auto Direct---------------Unable to quote any part time occupation Barclays------------------Can only allow 1 conviction per driver Elephant.co.uk-----------Will not quote for IN10s Esure----------------------Unable to quote for Vehicle age Halifax--------------------Unable to quote for Vehicle age Hastings Direct-----------Unable to quote with both FT and PT job Lancaster Insurance------Unable to quote for 3+ convictions More Than-----------------Unable to quote for ban in last 5 years Norwich Union-------------Can only allow 1 conviction per driver RAC------------------------Can only allow 1 conviction per driver SAGA----------------------Unable to quote due to proposeres age Sheilas Wheels-----------Unable to quote due to vehcle age Zurich---------------------Unable to quote for ban in last 5 years Oh. and NFU wouldnt quote becuase of the convictions

GBMUD
With a record like that and you can still insure for little more than me - no bans, convictions etc... Chris
rtbarton
Re the original question. I was in the Riley RM Club and this allowed me to get Classic Car insurance on my SIII with no problems through Pete Best.
Guest WALFY
Likewise Chris. Perhaps the moral is don't give a stuff as insurance will charge the same any way give or take a bit
Bull Bar Cowboy
With a record like that and you can still insure for little more than me - no bans, convictions etc... Chris Hey Chris you are not THAT young ............it must be because you live in Pikey Wilts, but I didn't think you lived that close to Monsieur Henson ! ............... all of those quotes are 3 times (some are 4 times) of what my annual premium is ................ no convictions, driving 37 years, class 1 business use, IAM, all mods declared, and £150 excess.
