I need some 155/165-14 tubes for staun beadlocks, and as a back up I need some tubes for a set of 34x1050x16 Simex Jungle Trekkers, but don't know what size these need to be? I would have thought because of their "innet tube" style pneumatic design they would be a serious conflict of interests going on possibly causing chafing and punctures at low pressures. Smo, the Staun Beadlocks use a 155/165-14 tube to lock the beads onto the rim, then you don't use a tube in the normal tyre. see below... Boothy Posted November 11, 2008 Share Posted November 11, 2008 For Staun innertubes speak to Paul at Challenger 4x4 he did mine a treat for me, I cannot see how a Staun and a seperate innertube can work together, beside the chaffing why would you want a tube when you've got a beadlock? Landranger services (who advertise) managed to get me a set of thick Landrover'ish tubes for a reasonable price, but a good mate told me he had previously bought some from a tyre specialist at £25 a go. not so cheap! Thanks for the comments, I'll try challenger again, tried them before but they didn't keep them in stock. Just to be clear, I don't want to run stauns AND tubes in the simex's - stauns are pretty difficult to fit without pinching the tubes, so I wanted some large tubes as a back up for the weekend encase I can't get the stauns set up properley. matt Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Staun's are not "pretty difficult to fit", they're effin difficult to fit, I did 5 in a day on a tyre machine and suffered with sore handies for a couple of days. Best of luck Hi Boothy, Your definitely right there! we started with 4 tubes, managed to get 2 wheels fully built up, but the other 2 tubes we pinched and they then burst upon inflation! These beadlocks (as you know i'm sure) are fantastic when they are up and running, but my god are the a pain to put together!!!! robhybrid Posted November 11, 2008 Share Posted November 11, 2008 I run 2 stauns and 2 clamped outer rim bead locks. For slower off road use I would highly recomend rim bead locks. If you only ocasionaly / never need the bead lock ability but are regularly on the road I would recomend staun type bead lock. I found dirt/grass/twigs can still push inbetween the tyre and rim on Staun, a inflated 60psi tube moves inwards when you are giving them abuse the tyre then goes flat as if you had a slow puncture This is bearable at a compatition but irritating the following day. I allso like the confidence of an extreemly strong outer wheel rim when you have the weld on type outer rim bead lock. I run my tyres at bellow 5 psi during comp. I've got dumper tubes with water valves in my mach 5's and I have no problems with punctures at very low pressures. They don't look to bad either... (how is the D-Lander coming on??) matt Ah yes but the staun inner tube is kevlar reinforced and in a kevlar bag or somthing from memory to make it super strong. D-Lander is slow, but getting there, ive moved to devon so am without her for a while altho have a new workshop and moved the tools and bits today...car to follow shortl! Cheers A lovely man called Grant, he is our local blacksmith and dedicacted offroader so he likes to make lots of goodies like beadlock rings, winch bumpers, cages, ground anchors, shock towers and all sorts for our club members,of which he is a committee member and he does a normal work as well.. Cheers Twiggy, I've got a set of mac 5's with the rings fitted, i used to run them with simex before going to boggers.
