Ryan Posted November 21, 2008 Share Posted November 21, 2008 Actually I should add a bit more: Anyone who is registered with the forum has a stake in it and should have its interests at heart. Of course, there are some official "custodians" that look after the IT side of things, and making sure text-speak and swearing doesn't get too prevalent. But I suppose every one of us is custodian of the forum to some extent - if we weren't here, it would fall flat on its face. I'm sure that in the dim and distant past when this forum first came into fruition, there were a number of people who "owned" it to set it up in the first place, but I would say that time has long gone, though obviously some of those people probably aren't long gone and in not going, keep this place ticking along just nicely. white90 Posted November 21, 2008 Share Posted November 21, 2008 Seems it will be another one James as David has been messaging me today regarding this he has been told that if he wants all the info he'll need to come over he is 10mins from me so distance is not the issue. There is obviously a motive behind this that I'm unaware of, But I for one am sick to death of this crud, to and fro. This is meant to be a sodding Land Rover site where Land Rovers are discussed. pity as a few want to make it a chat shop or something for thier own ends rather than Land Rover site with 11k plus members. Apparently the owner then sold it for an undisclosed sum- there are now adverts all over it. Bit like those lr comics I suppose. Could this happen here? Hybrid_From_Hell Posted November 21, 2008 Share Posted November 21, 2008 Oh Good Grief, Its completely Independent - and stays that way All Funds managed carefully expertly by TC - Who has the entire A&M Team support and it has to be said from the last attempt like this to undermine this forum a huge level and support of trust of a huge base of the memebrs new and old AGAIN for the record - (which many here are bored with) ALL Admins and ALL Moderators do ALL work for free taking NO "Fees" or "Charges" Donations whilst always welcome don't buy "Privelidge" "Favours" or anything else those generous enough to donate often do so for what they have gained from the forum and don't expect anything more in return - becuase there isn't anything else it just secures this forums future and their continued use of it. Its often just a generous "Thank You" for what they belive is worth contributing to, and long may thay and others feel that way about this site. No, we don't ask for a subscription style donation, any donations are simply at the wish/action of any member, there are ways to donate just click the 'Funding' link at the lower edge of the main Banner title at the top of every page.& as each member has as much rights as amy other member the site will never be sold for profit or have commercial adverts, it's totally for the members by the members. So, locked it is this thread hasn't been deleted so all can see and judge for themselves the reasons why and the agenda behind it. The "Silly Season" we had a while ago is now over ( http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=29495 ) Should anyone doubt the honesty or capabilities of the Forum Funds and the hands they are in then PM the A&M Team. For most members here they either don't care or more reasonably they simply have made a donation and actually trust those who look after the Forum for the benefit of and on behalf of all the members.
