landrover598
That doesn't look too good If your going to remove the rear body and replace with a cage, atleast do the job properly and remove all the body, and replace with a cage/flat pannels
jules
It give good ideas and the concept is there I would not go with the big arches but that is one method I had though of doing so it good to see I don't only think like that. the photo looks mid comp so its hard to see the finer points but there is nothing to work from so there will be loads of odd balls around before rally nice ones start to appear. I think for functionality it probably perfect. (I have just found spell check yay me)
jules
Looking at it more closely it is well thought out as the spare is low down as is the rear winch there are boxes to keep the kit in all it needs is a tray and opening door through the tray to get to the winch and spare
Mark90
If the arches where held on with pins and R-clips then they could easily be removed for competition if the regs allowed.
jules
Some of the racers mount the arches to the axle so the arch is only a few mm off the tyre which keeps some mud off the car thus weighing it down but mainly in the buggies. it would make cleaning easy after an event
Mark90
Hmm be interesting to see how long they lasted like that on a challenge truck. I'd be tempted to bring those rear side tubes out flush with the sides of the truck, or maybe just a bit further for better side protection. Panel the sloping underside with ally sheet. And if necessary to cover the tyre tread and make road legal a strip of runner along the edge of the tube.
jules
Like these helper mud flaps If you look to the left you can see my trucks front wing the only rason I put this on here is because I like it. last time I was at keiths he was talking about selling it. Mark90
I didn't see it, just heard it was there on AWDC stand I think. I know someone else who was seriously looking at doing a new shape mini silhouette racer a couple of years ago but they decided against it, I don't think their planned car design would go into in very easily or something like that.
