Hybrid_From_Hell
Hi all, With the new hydro tank underway I am thinking of fitting a "Sump Plug" in it for draining now and again I have decided while I am at it that fitting a magnetic sump plug wouldn't be the worst idea I have had, and I seem to rememeber that some LR or other has a 'magnetic sump plugy' in a gearbox or transfer box, can't remember which ??? So, For the anoraks here, the following questions 1 - What has them ? 2 - What is the part number ? 3 - Bonus Q and would make my F day as I have spent near the day working on lathe and Mill - whats the thread on it ? Heeeeeeeeeeeeeelp Also 4 - V8 Engine sump plug, anyone know again the thread size ? Nige Really hacked off and Lathe'd out

FridgeFreezer
Nige, You can buy magnetic drain/fill plugs from any hydro shop in a variety of standard threads. If there is a stock magnetic sump plug for the V8 I'd be interested too, although it's no mighty hassle to drill a blind hole and stick a magnet in. FridgeFreezer
599522 LT230 sump plug So are you saying that part is a magnetic drain plug that will fit a V8 sump? (Just want to be clear before I add one to my next parts order!)
Hybrid_From_Hell
No, it won't BUT When the hydro tank is done I am going to mod a V8 sump to take one so watch for info Nige
FridgeFreezer
When the hydro tank is done I am going to mod a V8 sump to take one so watch for info Would it not be easier to mod a V8 sump plug to have a magnet in it?
steve_d
Would it not be easier to mod a V8 sump plug to have a magnet in it? Would probably take longer to degrease it than drill the hole and glue a magnet in. Steve
FridgeFreezer
Would probably take longer to degrease it than drill the hole and glue a magnet in. You can buy a new one for a couple of quid. Hell, if someone made a batch of them I'd happily donate some money to forum funds for one.
