CJRH
Axles are the same, so a straight swop over job. Chris
kingdong2
if both landys are swbs and the axles are std then yes they will fit but there is a chance that the s111 axles could be 24 splines but hopefully they will be 10 spline like your s11 axles ? graham __________________________ 1962 2a swb 200 tdi. gaz0203
will have to check, diffs should be the same ratio though should they aslong as there both dervs?
Rich_P
Might have a different position for the drain hole or something too? But as said, they're otherwise the same.
missingsid
"quote if both landys are swbs and the axles are std then yes they will fit but there is a chance that the s111 axles could be 24 splines but hopefully they will be 10 spline like your s11 axles ? graham " Why? Surely 24 spline is an improvement on 10 spline? I thought that he will swap the complete axle so there would be no parts issues. Marc. FridgeFreezer
All rover-type Series diffs are 4.7:1 10-spline, youdo have to watch drain/fill plug holes as you can end up with no way of filling the axle but apart from that no difference. As has been said, Salisburys are different and later axles went to 24-spline hubs.
TheRecklessEngineer
Can I ask what has happened to the old axle? Unusual to damage an axle casing - everything else is replaceable.
Rich_P
They can and do rot away, particularly the support braces on the rear axle (optional for front, as used by MOD).
ian_s
the axle casing can also take damage if a diff goes bang in the wrong way my rear axle is leaking oil from 2 holes where my last died and bits jammed against the casing i'm not sure if i will just weld over the leaks or replace the casing yet
