Just a thought, for any one cutting ally, for the last 20 years or so when I have to cut ally i would only use a grinder as a last resort, jig saw with wood blade or a rip snorter is best, very noisy but cuts clean and easy.

A jigsaw even on thin sheet? like the Defender seat box gauge stuff?

yeah no problem as long as you use the right blade. a trick i learned is mark out your cut line then put a line of grease along the reverse side of your cut line when the jigsaw cuts it does so on the upwards stroke thus pulling the grease through lubricating the cut and stopping clogging of the blade
