bishbosh
So what do you use? I need labels for my winch switches. I want something pretty robust - I am thinking along the lines of a self adhesive engraved plate with: ------FRONT------ -OUT--------LIVE- (obviously without the dashes, I just put them in to try and preserve the formatting in the post) and a similar one for the rear winch. Anyone on here do that kind of thing before I shop about? Or has anyone any better ideas?

bishbosh
Sort of, but they need to stick to the textured surface of a mud dash so a label printer type will come off pretty quickly I think....

HoggyN
Funnily enough, I was discussing this with Mrs. Hoggyn the other day. Dymo was the conclusion... Dymo
Turbocharger
A mate of mine used to do screen printing onto ally for amplifier control panels, robust and durable. Not particularly cheap but maybe an option. If you let me know the size of panel you want I'll ask him for prices if you like?

Dymo thats what i ment!with the machine with the letters!! also, with the ali sheet, you could get a graphics company to lay vinyl onto sheet for you. would look good, but probably be cheaper then screen printing, and could be done onto plastic sheet too. steve_d
3M do an adhesive backed label material you print with your inkjet printer so you can do any shape, text, graphic you like. Once printed you pop it in the oven for the given time (about 10min from memory). The heat process locks the ink into the label material and you cannot scratch the print off.
