mmgemini
If it's broken in some way then yes please PM me your address and I'll pop it in the post. It'll be interesting to see how much alike, the same, as a Land Rover one

mmgemini
as above, rear screen heater has the VSS [voltage sensitive switch] in the circuit for the same job, front screen needs at least 30amps even tough a 70amp relay is fitted, it's protected by a 30amp fuse. this might help http://www.devon4x4.com/index.php?option=com_phocadownload&view=category&download=38:carling-switch-wiring-pinouts&id=6:wiring-diagrams&Itemid=36 Just to catch up. Front 'screen heater went off Monday. Today I got to look at it. WOW...The fuse had melted, well and truly melted. Looks like the fuse box could be wrecked as well. I had a spare holder in the box which I've now used. If it goes again I'll be fitting a maxi fuse and holder
simonr
Just in case anyone is interested, I have mine wired through one of these: http://www.durite.co.uk/s/c/equipment-and-accessories/split-charger-and-relay/voltage-sensitive-relay The feed from the relay powers (via individual switches) the screen, heated seats & mirrors - about 80A in total. The relay is rated at 140A. If I switch them all on with the engine idling, you can see the headlights dim slightly as the relay switches on & off. It needs a few extra RPM for the Alternator to supply enough current to keep the voltage up. Screen cleared nicely this morning! Si

Not that one. I have, had, two four gang ones in the battery box, it's one of those, not a real problem as there was an un used fuse in there. What I'm wondering is should I fit a Maxi fuse holder for the screen. When I worked on FIATs the 12's4 was always loosing the HRW. The fuse would melt, we generally just removed the fuse but it wasn't our own car !
davie
On 1/12/2013 at 6:59 PM, western said: the ignition feed powers the timer unit & 70amp relay once the timer is switched on then it heats the screen. took my oil pressure signal from the oil pressure warning light wiring behind instrument pack. if your using the LR timer unit it has a 8 minute operating time, but can be switched off by operating the switch again, found this out a few weeks ago & posted it in this thread. scrolling through and found this - where would i find such a feed on 2003 td5 90 behind dash? this could solve my issue i think, electrical idiot so clear wire colour advice is awesome please
