Tom.H Posted December 8, 2009 Share Posted December 8, 2009 Hi everyone. I’ve got a bit of dashboard dilemma My vehicle has a standard defender dash and wiring loom in it. The wiring is half complete with some indicator movements lighting up the dash. I plan to get the vehicle through an IVA in a few months. After reading the regulations about forward vision I’ve found that due to the lowered roof the defender dash obstructs vision through the windscreen. As a result I am planning on getting a custom dash made. I am aware ‘gauge panels’ are on sale although I haven’t found anything suitable for my application. I’ve been doing a little research in into custom panels but so far haven’t had much success. Basically… I just wondered if anyone knows of any fabrication companies which specialise in making Dashboards??? Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Tom.H Posted December 8, 2009 Author Share Posted December 8, 2009 Thanks for your advice… I have a lightweight series heater in the centre and can’t really relocate it to another place to make space for the dashboard…. IVA regulations also prevent a centre dash from being used. The instrument panels has to be located within a 127mm of the external diameter of the steering wheel I’ll contact Tomcat motor sport tomorrow and see if they can sort me out? Tom.H Posted December 9, 2009 Author Share Posted December 9, 2009 My mistake … The Dash in the above pictures isn’t a genuine tomcat one. It’s a custom dash fitted within a tomcat. I’ve talked to tomcat today … Sadly their dashes are made from fibreglass meaning there very hard to modify and fit into a non tomcat vehicle. Daan Posted December 9, 2009 Share Posted December 9, 2009 I doubt the IVA will flag it up, I presume it is a commercial one? Even so, the obsruction of the doesnt look a worry to me.
