MartinK
I'm about to service my TD5 Discovery. Engine and diff oils look straightforwards. Access to the filler/level holes on the transfer box and gearbox looks really awkward. I was going to try an oil suction gun like this one: http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/cgg500-500cc-oil-suction-gun Anyone got any better advice? Difflock do a fantastic-looking oilsafe but it's way too pricey for using twice a year: http://shop.difflock.com/oilsafe-pump-litre-p-94.html?osCsid=ac1ae268ed2852f9f6631d12f4ca4efc Any suggestions? Bowie69
Old pressurising garden sprayer and a length of fuel hose pushed over the end works very well for me, seals are holding up, even after putting ATF through it. I've had a syringe or two, at best they are annoying and hard work, at worse they are useless and very messy.

MartinK
The guy on Discovery2 has a great-looking plastic bottle & plunger (see http://www.discovery2.co.uk/transferbox_oil.html ). Can't find one for sale anywhere, spent and hour on ebay, amazon, and as well as medical & tool suppliers' websites! Other than that, I do like the ideas above (thanks Gents) - I do have a compressor, so may try and rig something with that.
MartinK
I found the 1 litre pump I was looking for - put "Laser 4385" into Google - I paid around £15 and it looks a really useful piece of kit... See the Laser site http://www.lasertools.co.uk/item.aspx?item=3847

Martin - I use the Machine Mart suction gun to good effect. Cheap enough for twice a year! Rob

LandyManLuke
Another vote for the plant sprayer method. Cheap and easy to use. I've also drilled and tapped mine so I can pressurise it with the air line.
Jimbo-TD5
I just used a small funnel and a length of hose, run the hose down through the engine bay and got someone to hold the pipe in while i filled from the engine bay!

Great idea - I never thought of that! Now...can't wait to get SWMBO under the car whilst I "accidentally" dribble 75-w90 on her.... (oooops this is a family site!) Seriously tho - a simple and great idea, thanks
wadey
About a year ago I spotted a small inline mechanical plastic pump about the size of a packet of fags, which goes onto a regular electric drill in a plumbing supplier shop, had to buy it it was only a tenner , it is for draining pipes etc , inlet and outlet are about 13 mm dia, works a treat with my dewalt battery drill for gearbox refill!!, will post some pics!
