Beefing Up a LR Rear Axle Casing - Pan & Pipes

Recommended Posts

Nice to see a variantion on a theme..

IMHO the routing of the std LR pipes is just asking for troubl;e, and like you I'm royally sick of damaging them, yours

is a fast and neat solution, with bnot as bad a cost as at 1st I would have thought ?

Did you get the same tight type banjo units, they look very similar - if not the same

IMVHO either Mine or TCs route makes for a vastly better solution :)

And Finally job done :)

Took a tad longer as whilst apart I twigged the wheel bearing had gone,

and 1 stub shaft, and the brake disks got changed, and the pads

and the hub seals, and the shockers too, which just added time,

but today sees it finished.

The last Fabbing job was to throw away the silly tin bracket that

holds the T piece on the top of the casing, and fab up a 4mm bracket

which fixes in the same way to the 2 x diff studs, but is stronger,

braced and has the left and right hand side protector bars join onto

to it to make for a solid protector top sides and across.

I did have a gulp when I saw the T Piece which seems to have a crack

in it <gulp> the lines where on it F tight took a lot to remove as

they had been renched and twisted just a few times :( so it may have

been getting them off that finished it, anyway new one added - check

yours maybe next time your under there ?

Anyway a few pics to show the above :
