natas
I imported a really nice set of Rock Sliders with Tree Guards. Took 1/2 a day removing the old corroded sills, most of the nuts and bolts either broke or had to be cut off. The mount with the pipe that fits into the pipe on the chassis will not fit!! It gets about 2 " in then gets jammed. I think the chassis pipe is swollen from rust? I tried to clean inside the pipe with a long screwdriver and tapping the mount in with a sledge hammer but still only goes in about 2 ". Any suggestions? Thanks. Would slackening the bodywork bracket clamps off first help? The other thought would be some grease. A kinked bit of stiff wire in an electric drill would get rid of quite a lot of grot too. jad
I used a long file when i did this. takes a while but you would get there eventually
lrfarmer
i ended up putting new outrigers on as when i did get the rust off for it to fit i could see light throw the pipe
Disco-Ron
I had this issue on mine, i welded on new outrigers, and have now ordered a new chassis as a result of the corrosion.... new outriggers are ok, but they're made to fit inside the existing ones in the chassis... so the corrosion is still there...... hence the chassis! plus it needs a cross member anyway, so gonna do the job properly! bishbosh
Get a small diameter wire wheel, weld on a rod extension to it and stick it in your electric drill. Run that up and down the inside of the outrigger and it will shift most obstructions. Worked for me!

natas
What was the solution? I started with the wire wheel but it didnt help much. I then used the gringing stone attatchment for a 3/8 drill with a 12" extention. It took a few hours but eventually they went in. Homo dog was no help at all! The slides look really nice and feel really strong. Out exploring , then the fuel tank starts to leak! Thanks.

Guest
You say that Homo Dog was no use, did you try using it with a drill attachment? You could have also used it for cleaning that very clean workshop floor when you had finished..... Cheers, Jason.
